Mr. B. Benjamin Merrill In M emoriam It is dgfcult to be a disczplinarian jor high school teenagers. This was Mr. Merrill's job. And yet he was interested in much, much more. We know him as the man who tied up the loose ends, the functions students don't realzke exist, but which insure a school 's running well. One spoke to Mr. Merrill about a special problem or plan. His judgment on requests was always fair and generous. He quiethf, lenientbr gave us opportunities to assert our maturigf. His enthusiasm for Governor Livingston was openbl expressed at many times in many ways: at football games, recognition assemblies, and class meetings. But his personal warmth, tempered with adult astuteness, stemmed fam a strong love cj kids. Apu! 25, 1965 152
