Welcome to the year 1986 at Gouverneur Central School. 2 3 4 V OK GHS 1985 Musical Under the direction of David Friedrich, Bruce McIntyre, and Judi Duff, last year’s musical Funny Girl” was a huge success. It starred Shelly Klock as Fanny Brice trying to make her way to star- dom with help from her admirer Ed- die Ryan, portrayed by Ken Weatherup. She found herself over- coming many obstacles, one being her love for Nick Arnstein played by Chris Anderson. Many thanks go to the backstage crew, pit orchestra and the rest of the cast, whose hard work and many hours of dedication helped us receive a standing ovation on both nights. 8 Funny Girl 9 G.H.S. Dedication 1986 This year’s book is dedicated to a fine young man who has, on his own, made it possible for the cost of this yearbook to be held to a low price. How? By selling an enormous (as you have probably noticed) amount of ads. In case you haven’t figured it out we (the yearbook staff) go into the red each year in an effort to keep down your cost of nearly $9000 to produce each book. This is a lot of money and “it ain’t gettin’ any cheaper.” I hope you buy your yearbook early next year and help out, even if only to compliment a staff member or a book. Please tell your favorite merchant you saw their ad in the Deanonian. P.S. an extra thanks goes to our generous area mer- chants, and to Shannon. Shannon Streeter DEDICATION '85 To: All my good friends, From: Bea Rak I don’t have the words to adequately express my sincere thanks and ap- preciation for the wonderful surprise party you gave for me on Friday night. I really thought that on my last day I would just fold up my tent and leave quietly with no fanfare. I am pleased and touched that so many people came to the party; you certainly did things up “big for me. Thanks for the cabbage patch kid original. I shall treasure it. I have enjoyed working with and for all of you during my years at GHS. 50 Thanks again for everything. Foreign Exchange Student This year G.H.S is pleased to have three foreign exchange students. The students pictured here are: Above: Nga Shan Cheung “Phoebe” picking on Mr. Hurley. Below Left: Sergio da Motta and host Kim Hill. Below Right: Leonardo Brunelli and host Rony Abarants. Leonardo is from Brazil, Sergio is from Brazil, and Phoebe is from Hong Kong. Phoebe is staying with Mr. and Mrs. Hunt. Conway-Helvie Studios E. T. Bowman Jeff Local Merchants Pepsi-Cola Clarence Evans Here it is, the product of 6 months hard work and many nights after school. This year’s staff, although small, has produced a quality product. A special thanks goes to Debby von Colin, editor, for putting up with Mr. Betrus and to Bill Wood- ward for putting up with Debby. Bill is next year’s editor. Each year I’m asked, “why isn’t that event in this year's book.” The answer is longer than the question, so I’ll answer this way. Our yearbook goes to the press on March 6th every year. We start the next Deanonian on that date (March 6th). As such we cover the events which take place from March 6th in the edition which ends the following March 6th and is distributed in May-June of that scholastic year. Make sense? In other words the book starts and ends in March. I hope you have enjoyed this book. We’re sorry about the ads, however they were a necessity. Many thanks go to Debby, Bill, Lorraine, Robin and Shannon who helped make my job easier. GOOD LUCK BILL. Alan G. Betrus I now bring to a close, the last moments of my years at G.H.S. Many thanks go to Bill Wookward, for being my right-hand-man, and Shannon Streeter, for rack'n in the big bucks. I would especially like to thank Mr. Betrus for teaching me everything I know — It was a job well done. Debra von Colin Editor-in-Chief SERVICE i.s-4; KtfADfcFV nrrac L „1?
