We thank them for contributing to our memorial night. 8 PROM NIGHT’84 Prom: With the crowned king and queen, David Dodds and Kerry Kennedy and chaperones of Mr. Ziegler and Miss Molholsky, the Junior Prom of 1984 was rocked away with the sounds of Clockwork. The outstanding decorations to the theme of “Garden Paradise” and theme song of “Up Where We Belong” will contribute to our memories of the 1984 year atG.H.S. 9 SPIRIT WEEK . i !■«—imi ,, : • .. Moving-Up Day: The 1984 Moving-Up Day Exercises tok place on a beautiful day. The G.H.S. classes, in their respective colors, watched as fellow students accepted well deserved achievement awards. The band played chorals as the students “moved up’’ to their future expectations and the years which lay ahead. 12 GRADUATION ’84 Graduation 1984: No one will forger the Graduation of 1984. John Reynolds entertained us with his humorous sum- mary of what graduation meant to him. Sue Foster enlightened us with her visualization of George Orwell’s 1984. Kerry Ken- nedy in her final words as class president offered her classmates words of en- couragement for the challenging years ahead. 13 14 “Wow, what a neat car. Ask me if I care. She tires to help him with his inferiority complex and they eventually fall for each other. As the play concludes Allan finally finds his own true self. Supporting cast was Rick Smith, Lor- raine Dusharm, Monique Alberry, Robin Rusch, Kara Rusch, Kristi Bigeral and Kathy Griffin. 50 51 mm mm m 111 Foreign Exchange Student Ida Badawi, here through the Open Door Program, from Cairo, Egypt, spent the 1984-85 school year at Gouverneur High School. She was hosted by the Rodger Cole family. Ida likes the country scenery which is a change from the city. She especial- ly likes snow. Her favorite American food is ice cream. Ida’s favorite sub- jects are computers and English. She plans on attending the American University in Cairo, a five year college, and major in business management. Ida has two sisters: Nora, age 18 and Nadia, age 24 and a brother Hani, age 20. Each year I worry that the staff will revolt, pictures will be lost, names misplaced, and worse yet, nobody will buy the book. For- tunately again this year (as in the past 7) we made it through. Yearbooks are made possible by the hard work and dedication of a small, but hard working, group of students. This year thanks goes to Fred, Debby, and Bill for their patience with me and the book you hold. The other people depicted on this page are an important link in the chain of yearbook production, each deserves your thanks. People I forgot to thank 1. Mrs. Deluca and her typing class. 2. Michelle Monica, Tracy Bishop 3. E.T.B. P.S. Good Luck next year Debby Alan Betrus As my senior year ends and my job as Yearbook Editor ends I wish to extend my thanks to the gang in 212F. I especially wish to thank Mr. Betrus for his patience and Bill Woodard for his above-and- beyond the call of duty. The new McDonald’s brought new meaning to the words “senior privileges,” new wave hit the North Country and brought with it a rebirth of popular heavy metal. WIGS got a new beginning and we started tun- ing in!! 1984 was the year of Bruce “The Boss” Springsteen and Prince, the tragedy of Vanessa Williams and Rick Allen and the triumph of a new generation finding Dylan and Hendrix. 1984 was the year that we all became one huge family, sharing the good times along with the bad. I’m sure it will be a year few of us will ever forget. 109 Advertisements Congratulations to the Class of ’85 From Gouverneur Talc Owner: Vernon Gonyeau Congratulations to the Class of ’85 from Mercer’s Jersey Farm 3estival Slotist Qoge i tK.
