Mr. F. Harwood Bogardus has played an ac- tive role in the Gouverneur school system for over 24 years. Mr. Bogardus started here as a general science teacher in March of 1962. Prior to being a teacher, Mr. Bogardus served on the Gouverneur Central School Board of Education. Mr. Bogardus, a graduate of St. Lawrence University, a naval officer during World War Two, and a farmer in Macomb tried to both teach and run- his farm at one time. Fortunately for many, many students he chose teaching. In his spare time Mr. Bogardus, a family man with four children, maintains a cottage at Black Lake, where he enjoys boating. He also enjoys country and Western music, and motorcycles. 18
