ROW 1: Mr. Bigelow, Mr. MacKinnon, Mr. Orford, Mr. McAllaster. ROW 2: Mr. Knowlton, Mr. Murphy, Mr. Steele, Mr. Gates, Mr. Cook. TO THE CLASS OF 1974 From your theme the two lines - That far away prize, that world of success is waiting for me if I heed the call” strikes me as the most urgent challenge of any group that has gone on before you. As you move into the new and complicated life after your graduation we certainly hope you are amply prepared to heed the call to achieve the far away prize and the world of success. Your parents, the teachers and staff of the Gouverneur Central School Dis- trict have worked with dedication during these trying times to help you become equipped to achieve these goals. Now that you are what you are please make everyone proud of your accomplishments by taking your place in society and settling for nothing less than your dream, your prize and your success. Best wishes and success in all your endeavors. Joseph A. Netto, Sr. Superintendent of Schools

To the Class of 1974: ''I've got to be me, the theme of your Yearbook, probably means different things to different people. To me it means all of us in this day and age have to be ourselves. Many, many pressures are being put on all of us from the press, from our government, from our society and from countries abroad. Many factions are trying to mold our way of life. Students rebel because they cannot do their ''thing.” Spiritual and moral values CHARLES H. PICKARD, Principal chan8e because of the pressures exerted upon society, which means, in the final analysis, that with my education, with my bringing up I still have got to be me. I trust that each and every one of you within the framework of our society try to be your individual selves. Charles H. Pickard Principal JOHN M. GARNER, Vice-Principal PETER D. LIVELY, Vice-Principal 7
