Her impression of our school is that the day lasts longer but in general, that it is less demanding on the student. ln Gouverneur, she has discovered and enjoyed the differences of living in a small town. Jenny really likes our country and plans to return some day to see other parts of it. Chris attended school for a year in Santos, Brazil, where he found the educational system quite different from ours. The teachers, as Well as the subject matter they taught, were generally poor. Students had little school spirit, but they enjoyed their social life. Chris learned that the Brazilians were often anti-Ameri- can, but that they were easy to get to know and became very in- terested in other people. Christopher Blodgett A.F.S. As you likely noticed, we have introduced several innovations, both in substance and style, which we think will add to the attractiveness and lasting value of the book. But its preparation has meant much work and planning. Many people have aided us in the compilation of this year- book. Few, however, can be fully credited for the time they have spent with us on this project. We thank first St. Lawrence University for hosting North Country high schools to a spring conference on journalism. In the fall we attended both a regional meeting sponsored by Inter-Collegiate Press in Watertown and a weekend con- vention ofthe Empire State School Press Association at Syracuse University. We gained valuable advice and infor- mation to start this project well. Our thanks to go Mr. Harold Conway, who has taken time from his schedule downtown to take our group pic- tures. We must have tested his patience often with inter- ruptions and weird requests. Mr. Neil St. Andrews, our Inter-Collegiate Press representative, has given us helpful suggestions and encouragement for our production. -K , lf f if . fa ,Jr ai. i Q x .pg The person whose help we most appreciated, however, is our adviser, Mr. Varick Chittenden. Without his guidance, the staff would have had difficulty knowing where to start. The sacrifice of many extra hours to help us with the year- book was inspiring, and his role as liaison between the staff and administration was invaluable. We would like also to express our appreciation to you for your cooperation and support, financial as well as moral. To all we extend wishes for health and happiness, peace and good will, always.
