This is possible beeause for the first time the lloarrl of liltlueation has matle available in its bnrlget the amount usually gainecl through aclvertisements. ln the past seniors have hacl to work long antl hartl to obtain enough atlrer- tising from loeal and nearby business eoneerns to pay for the printing of their yearbook. The tlonation of this money has been a great help in retlueing the finaneial heatlaehes of prorlueing a goorl book, antl has releaserl a mnnber of atltlitional pages for pictures of school activities. lt is one more manifestation of the lloarcl's interest in stutlents. l2l

Moclelecl from the Gouverneur Morris coat-of-arms, the crest has as its center piece symbols of two occupations familiar in the lionverneur area - a mine shaft representing lllllllllg and Z1 shock of wheat representing agriculture - balanced hy two sym- hols of education - the lamp of knowledge and the hook of learn- ing. This year's seniors, the class of 1953, were the first to have the stanclarcl crest on their class rings, and therefore have chosen the crest as the theme of their llcanonian. l3l
