MUSIC DEPARTMENT The music organizations have increased in number and size and have multiplied their public appearance this year. The instrumental groups have given generously of their time and talents to make assem- blies, plays, games and dances more enjoyable. Public and students have appreciated the fine concerts staged by the A Cappella Choir in Decemberg the junior and Senior Bands in Marchg the Orchestra and Girls' Chorus in May. Individual players from all grades and music levels showed progress in a series of Student Recitals given through the winter. The Orchestra was invited to appear at the Northern Zone Conference of the New Yorl-: State Teachers' Association in September, a signal honor. The Dance Band, the Girls' Sex- tette and the Boys' Quartette accompanied the junior Play cast to assembly appearances in Potsdam, and Massena. Selected students from Band, Choir and Orchestra attended the NYSSMA Clinic in Potsdam in November, while the Band, Chorus, Choir and String En- srmble took part in the May Festival. Civic organizations have benefited by the Band's appearances on Halloween. Memorial Day and the Sesquicentennial celebration, while the Sextette and Quartette have entertained many clubs and groups about town. The students in music may well be proud of their contribution to the life of the school and may be assured that students, faculty and public appreciate it. tPage 263 Orchestra Plano-Marilyn Howard.
