Morton Couldis humorous Hillbilly added a modern touch. The string ensemble was organized for the purpose of acquainting its members with great chamber music and giving them opportunities to play in a small group. The SENIOR HIGH MIXED CHORUS increased in size this year, and several new boys with good voices were added to the bass and tenor sections. Accompanied by Joanne Curtis and Ann McCullouch, they have kept busy throughout the year. The highlight of a Christmas music assembly was the popular Waring arrangement of The Night Before Christmas. In the annual Orchestra-Chorus Concert on April 28 they sang Oklahoma, the Negro spiritual Were You There, Country Style, with the fiddle played by Lorna Rouse, and a special arrangement of America the Beautiful. Thebig number at graduation will be a very stirring arrangement of Onward Chris- tian Soldiers. Fourteen of our members sang in the sectional all-state chorus in Potsdam last November, and the entire chorus journeyed to Potsdam to sing in the annual May festival. Soloists with the chorus this year were Mary Jo Mabbett, Marilyn Reamore, Amos Kentfield and Ralph Janack. The JUNIOR HIGH CHORUS has almost doubled in size this year. Many of the new members are seventh graders who came from the two grammar schools and are proving to be a definite asset to the group. Rehearsal time is limited, as there is only one period a week for this chorus. However, several dilhcult and interesting numbers have been added to its repertoire. At the Orchestra-Chorus Concert they sang a Czech Dance Song, a popular Spanish folksong called The Lad with the Colden Hair and Oh, What a Beautiful Morning. The other big event of the year is the junior high graduation. For that event the chorus will sing Waltzing Matilda, Will You Remember from the opera Maytime and Steal Away. Susan Kinney is the accompanist. 35 W DEAN ORHTORICAL CONTEST 'H-av Back Rau Left lo Rlghl Amo lxentfleld Lona 'Nlllle Phwllls Appleby Robert Peabodw from Kaul Jawnl Sprague Drurw Cather 'Nlaureen 'Nlonahan Harold Stan Nlarx Elizabeth Lole Arnold LaFortx SENIOR PLAY THOSE WEBSTEBS o--q Buck Huw Left to Right Estelle lawranre Lewla Schofield Amoi Kentfneld Rodney Kerr Dons Howland Ralph .lanack Sealed Rosalie blrard Lawrenre brass-5 Roee Nlarle Kondra Albert Gardner Phyllw Wltters Front Ocella Burns 36 I W N A' ' A K M , Q - I Q mf 553 L m 0f5x Y l . 3 - Esrmil , l ' '.
