1 20 87 Yearbook Dear Class of '87: It has been a pleasure working with you—the more since we began our Gould careers in the same year, and I am pleased that the editors granted me space for a parting shot. I fully expect that the satisfaction from your Gould experience will amplify at appropriate moments when friendships with special people and teachers' efforts on your behalf are reflected through the years. Your efforts for the Academy are already noticed and appreciated, and I hope that when the time comes you can find ways to extend them to the next generation of Gould students. So far as your own future is concerned, I cannot resist the urge to offer a little advice. There is lots of talk these days about how complex and diffi- cult is life in the eighties. The complexity is an illusion. Underneath that veneer are just people much too caught up in getting and taking and staying in fashion. At the risk of provoking yet another school-wide guffaw about taking risks, I suggest again that the secret to long-term happiness is less likely to be found in Cancun or in fighting off gray hair than it is in an individual decision to accept and to respond to the needs of some other. It is a great comfort to me to know that Gould Academy graduates seniors who are fit for more than living lip sync lives and committed to more than personal comfort and success. I hope enough tension remains on the string between you and Gould Academy so that you feel free to give it a tug once in awhile, and I do hope you will use it to keep in touch with us. We cannot go on without your continued interest and support. With thanks for the good times, I wish you all the best of luck. Most sincerely, 4 William P. Clough III Headmaster

DEDICATION When one thinks of leoders, one sees o person stonding out front, pointing the woy, feorless ond strong. Mr. Dohrmonn has been the senior doss advisor and leader. Not only that, but the class has seen him as a teacher coach, dorm head, father, husband, and friend. How he manages to juggle these roles is o feot in itself. Yet the most amazing thing is that he never loses his smile. Mr. Dohrmonn is o leader from the bock sear”. Not out front pointing the woy, but in the bock, pointing out the road ahead, allowing students to take their own steps. He has shown students that there will not olwoys be someone to tell them whor to do. rhot learning is not following, but doing. The woy that he does this is by being very friendly, helpful, and informative. By being straightforward and honest he has buit a strong relationship with the students. When we see your smile we know that something is going right. Thank you Mr. Dohrmonn. 5
