Without your unique personality to guide us, we would not be the interesting group of jokers that we are. We will always treasure your rare quality of giving each of us the individual at- tention we needed. You are an excellent person! With love. The Class of '83 2 And to: Beth McMurray For the past four years, Gould Academy has been blessed with the presence of a truly wonderful person, Beth McMurray. She came to Gould as a freshman, and has always been nice, understanding, and concerned with the welfare of the Gould community. In her senior year, Beth was taken ill, and was forced to leave campus. We the senior class, want Beth to know that she has not been forgotten. To show our appreciation for all her contributions to the school, we dedicate this yearbook to her. With love. The Class of '83 3 This beats California any day! Pre season proved to be a great success with the bubbling interests of the new players and the en- thusiasm of the veterans. During that week we not on- ly developed and strengthened our skills, but also a feeling of team unity was born. Our first game was a 4-0 victory over Oak Grove Coburn. During the following weeks we lost several games but our spirits remained high because we knew that we had given 100%. We ended the season with a victory over NVA. We're the Huskie Hockey team, We're rowdy rough and mean. Our offense has that awesome RUSH Our defense has that mighty CRUSH Well, I don't know what you've been told But these Husky girls are as good as gold. The credit for this outstanding season goes not only to the players, but also to coach Bede Wellford. Without his patience and care the j.V. record might have been much different. The ).V. team has much to be proud of. After all, they had the best record in the league. Pete Johnson Row 1: A. Crowther. mang. Row 2: S. Ordway, M. Netskey, I Holden, G Sardon, I Plummer, S. Highlights of the season included Goulds 100th varsity soccer victory with a 6-3 win at Hebron. Another highlight was an outstanding game at Bridgton, ending in a 2-2 tie. Gould scoring was led by Mike Senese, closely followed by Oliver Fisher. Both were highly ranked in league scor- ing. The net was shared by two excellent goalies, Brian Walker and Mike Angell, both of whom could always be counted on for a good game. Everyone showed great hustle, as team play was an important factor during the season. It was a successful season for all. Scott Parks 70 Row 1: D. Merrill, T. Perry, capts. Mr. (Major) Pancoast is telling the teams that if they take a shortcut, they will be disqualified. And we're off! I try to keep up with the head pack. Forget it. I sink back into the middle of the two teams. As I turn into the woods, I pass an enemy team's man. He is mad that I passed him. He starts to run again. Tough Granola, buddy, you aren't passing me. I pick up, he sinks back. As I come out of the woods, there is an enemy runner walking. He doesn't want to be passed so he runs again. As I run down Kitchen Hill, I am Straining, to the limit. Up Mill Hill. I have hated Mill Hill since the time when we had to run 10 sprints up it one fine broiling day. All I can think about is my parched lungs, piercing cramps, exhausted legs, and how I am going to die. At the first white church, I see two people come in a tie. I am already half-sprinting but I must sprint now if I am to stay ahead of an enemy runner that is sprinting himself. I burn past the finish line and pick up my tongue depressor. The Girls' Team did well with many excellent team placings. The Boys' Team did not shine until the Lakes Region Championships. Here the boys placed fourth as a team out of 13 schools. A1 Barth 120 Everybody can relate to the dismal days spent bumming around campus, walking from building to building without a specific destination. And why does it always seem like you can't find anyone else? The reason for that is everyone else is moping around in their rooms, listening to tunes or whatever.
