She has been a faculty member for 22 years, during which time she has been on numerous committees to improve the quality of our education. The majority of her time, though, has been spent in the research and teaching of microbiology. A small part of this has been manifested in her ever popular course on nutrition. Her involvement in this community has enriched the lives of many people. The Class of 1978 dedicates this Donnybrook Fair to Helen B. Funk with our warmest thanks and best wishes for the future. 973 .--A HPV K if 7 .- A , :A 7 J, -. 1, '- A ' 0 9 Aw - X 2' 1 1 - ' l m 'wagtfw J W , 9 1976 W- f 1 ff: 1 9 7 8 Ch,-fl ,-,-1ll 5r- ff kxw Q . The reason why we don't take time is a feeling what we have to keep moving. This is a real sickness . . . We must approach the whole idea of time in a new way period. WE ARE FREE TO LOVE. And we must get free from all imaginary claims. We live in the fullness of time every moment is God! Own good time. The whole thing boils down to giving ourselves in prayer a chance to realize that we have what we seek. We don't have to rush after it. Every hour something new is unburied in the great bran pie. Where am I? I ask. This? No, I am that. Especially now, when I have left a room, and people talking, and the stone flags ring out with my solitary footsteps, and I behold the moon rising, sublimely, indifferently, over the ancient chapel-- Then it becomes clear that I am not one and simple, but complex and many. BACON HOUSE For quite a while Bacon has been known as the Party House . This reputation is well earned, for through the doors of this house have passed some of the greatest parties Goucher has ever known. This year we again assumed the responsibilities involved and planned open parties to benefit the entire student body. Bacon has always housed vital members of the Goucher Community. This year was no exception. We held numerous leader positions, including the Freshman Class President, The Canteen Coordinator, The Greenhouse Manager, and a Student R.A. And contrary to rumor, Baconites do study. At 3 A.M. during the 7th and 13th week the halls were buzzing, for all-nighters have never been uncommon here. A bit unorthodox, but the work gets done. In fact, nothing has ever been taboo at Bacon. We supported each others interests and talents whatever they might have been. There weredancers, scientists, field hockey players and a historical preservation major who can sing Since I Fell For You like no one else in Baltimore. Baconites have added spunk to the campus by providing Goucher with talent, knowledge, leadership, and . . . great parties! Mary Sue Griesman, V.P.g Diane DeVito, S.C.jStu. O. BALDWIN HOUSE The fall of 77-78 saw Baldwin House, home of the Russian floor, start off with a crew of new faces and personalities. We had the chance to meet friends and make memories together. Will we ever forget our bar- becue in which our devoted RA turned into a pyro- maniac? feverybody needs a little carbon in their diet now and thenj. How about our potluck dinner and all that GREAT food and the people who drank more than two glasses of punch and then had evening classes. Then there was Capt. Carol and her team of ferocious Baldwinites who fried Bacon at soccer. Little did we suspect that when Remembrance took charge of the bake sale she'd come up with such an ingenious way of attracting people freally, one fire engine would have been enoughj. Our Christmas party was one to be re- membered too. Afterall, Santa Sonia and her 3rd floor elves don't visit every houseg but then we always knew that Baldwin was special! UBEC IAL BENNETT HOUSE Bennett House is as good a name as any for this strange and wonderful agglomera- tion of women. Where else can one find a Vote for Your Favorite Sophomore elec- tion? For that matter, why would one assume that there could be a favorite sopho- more? Where else can one find a hall grafiitti board containing a wealth of infor- mation about faculty, administrators, men, and life as a college student in general in such graphic terms? Where else can one belong to a Curl Up and Die Club that meets regularly? What other house has its own golf cart? Bennett is all of this and much more - or less, depending on your point of view. We are all women dedi- cated to individual goals, struggling to get them together. Together we go through heartbreaks and academic trauma. Whereas as individuals we have our weak- nesses, together we are an invincible force. We are a major business power, control- ling large interests in C8cP Telephone, Maria's of Towson, and Goucher College to name a few. We are the prime taco hustlers on campus and a major segment of the Monday Night Doughnut consumer market. Moreover, we are individuals em- barked on an adventure in living and learning, growing and helping to grow. We get by with a little help from our friends.
