The rigid training which is characteristic of the sciences is necessary if it is to produce clear, logical, and accurate thinking on the part of the students so as to make them capable of discovery and thoughtful observation. The Faculties The Natural Sciences 22 Academic life at Coucher has three 6tfacesh; that of the Natural Sciences, the Social Sciences, and the Humanities. Each maintains its own dis- tinctive characteristics while at the same time coordinating its activities and objectives with those of the associate departments. Biological sciences, chemistry, mathematics, physics and astronomy constitute Coucherts Natural Sciences department. In that knowledge of the physical makeup of man and his immediate environ- ment seems to be gaining in importance in everyday life, it has been of increasing value to the college woman to put time and eHort into this interesting and vital field.
