Tomorrowts teachers . . . A welcome was offered at the fall tea to memhers of the Education and Child Development Club. Soon, anxiously awaiting the thrills of teaching experienceiraised hands of children eager to Well teachery or the ornery, lanky lads heckling from the hack rowepractice teachers slipped away each morning at eight, lunchhags under their arms, ready to mold fresh, young minds. N.E.A. discussions, educational theory movies, and visiting lecturers created a spirit of devotion to a dedicated profession. Dinners with f aculty advisors strengthened bonds with those who described rewardingr experiences. In the quiet of an evening, we enj oyed learning the secrets of the profession in the N.E.A. A member of the American Association of International Relations Clubs, Gouchefs Political Science Club emphasized this year the examination of international problems through aDecisions, 1957;, a U.N. study plan. Imported speakers included Judge Emory Niles, Who discussed jury duty. In the spring? several members attended an A.A.I.R.C. conference in 'Washington to consider Middle Eastern crises. Lighter entertainment included enjoyment of Dr. Winslowvs h amhurgers and the presidentas ttpithy tomatoes?9 A related organization, the Field Politics Center set Goucherites to practical work at party headquarters and at ringing doorbells. Devoted to the political education of Coucher and the surrounding areas, F.P.C. also sponsors frequent visits to such national centers as the Supreme Court, the United Nations, the A.F. of L.-C.I.O., and the Loyalty-Security Board. 25 First row, left to right: G. Trots to Van Meter 200 permitted a ride down the Rhine and the Danube . . . sad that it had to he only via film! With tales of studying in an ancient village surrounded by majestic Austrian Alps, then on to disheartening observations in East Berlin, Mr. Brown aroused in his hearers a deepened curiosity about Germany. ttVengan todos97 to the 66Spanish table,77 one of this yeargs new institutions! The Spanish Cluh9s aim as ever was to encourage interest in Spanish language and tradition and to provide a suggestion of home for the students from the Spanish-speaking countries.
