Coming back to college in this Hrst year of peace, to live and study and work in a dynamic world striving feverishly to build a better way of life and to avoid old mistakes, we are keenly conscious of the role we are destined to play in molding our future. We are aware that the youth of today is challenged with a task weightier than any which faced our parents or those before them. Hoping to prove worthy of the responsibility entrusted to us, we especially appreciate the added knowledge and insight which our college training may give us, though we know that we are thus made liable for an even greater share of the burden. For us as college students, peace has a two-fold meaning. It enables us to have a normal, happy youth in which we may often be gay and carefree, as beiits our time of lifeg for this we are grateful. But we also recognize the duties involved, the debt we owe to those who sacrificed for usg we hope to be able to repay our debt by soberly shouldering our duties and fulfilling them to the best of our ability. VVith this dual feeling of privilege and responsibility, we make the keynote of DONNYBROOK for 1946, PEACE.
