THE PRESIDENT IN a recent conversation with a friend from another college, a Goucher student mentioned the New Plan. nOh yes, replied her friend instantly, we understand at college that your President Robertson is doing remarkable work down there. What can one add to that significant statement? Goucher's New Plan is watched and discussed with interest and admiration; and outsiders recognize Dr. Robertson as its originator and leader. They realize, as do we ourselves, that a far-fiung and balanced intelligence is required to carry such an experiment to its successful conclusion. We liked the connotation of the phrase your President Robertson. For we consider Dr. Robertson our President in a real sense of the word. To us he is no mythical bureaucrat entrenched behind closed doors and impossible of ac- cess. An interview is easily secured; and even a short talk always serves to smooth out whatever troublesome snag is annoying us. The benefit of a vigorous mind and a ready interest is always at our disposal. In the Lighted House Dr. and Mrs. Robertson are hospitable hosts to the Cole lege community. There we come in contact with culture and gracious living. We meet with brilliant minds and conversation covering a wide range of topics. And we are happy to know that Dr. Robertson and the F irst Lady of the College are friends valued and appreciated by discriminating people outside Goucher as well as by Goucher students themselves. e 213s
