They are as follows: Judy Black, Gerald Dittemore, Pat McCarty, Mina Brown, Stanley Jones, Marilyn Collier, Larry Watson, Judy Stevens, Jim Stierwalt, Yvonne Shultz, Marilyn Smith, Sue Van Bur kirk, Bob Snyder, Sue Pottorff, Margaret Hunsicker and Nila Myers. In our eighth grade year, the girls contributed a selection to the musical presented by Mrs. Swanke and the High School Chorus. Mrs. Abbett was our sponsor. We enjoyed two skating parties and a Christmas party that year. After our summer vacation, we returned to school as the All Important Freshmen. Our first en¬ counter with high school activities was, of course, our initiation. Our sponsor that year was Miss Brown, and our first party was a scavenger hunt and chili supper. On our second party, we went skat¬ ing at Bloomington. We gained two new members that year. Lois Coble transferred from Patricksburg and Shirley Roberts from Virginia. Since this was our first year in the class tournaments, it was a big event to us. We were the ' Yellow Jackets ' . Although we were losers, we enjoyed competing with the other classes. Janet Marley joined us in our sophomore year. We enjoyed a skating party and a wiener roast at McCormick ' s Creek. Miss Gardner was our sponsor. That was a busy year. We were Juniors and had charge, of the candy and coke sales at ball games and noon hour. We also presented our play, Grandma ' s Best Years. Our Prom was a big problem, but turned out a huge success. Betta Baggett entered our class that year. Our dreams have come true! We are Seniors at last. This is the year we have been looking for¬ ward to. Mr. Alexander is our sponsor. He has been working with us in planning and constructing our annual. We will be graduating in the ’’ery near future and we wish the under-classmen success and happiness in their future high school days. 14 Class Will We, the members of the 1953 Senior Class of Gosport High School, being of sound mind and desirous to be remembered, by those who follow us, do make the following bequests: To the faculty, we leave our thanks for their patience and understanding in guiding us through our school years. I, Judy Black, will my ability to get an engagement ring to Grace McCarty. I, Mina Brown, will my ability to get along without a boy friend to anyone wh o can’t. I, Lois Coble, will my ability to make errors in typing to anyone who is will¬ ing to correct them. I, Marilyn Collier, will my brown hair to Sara Smith. I, Gerald Dittemore, will my quiet, retiring disposition to Freddy Walters. [Please take the hint, Freddy.] I, Margaret Hunsicker, will my long hair to Paula Whitaker. I, Stanley Jones, will my perfect attendance to anyone who will be as faithful as I have been. I, Janet Marley, will my sweet disposition to Earl Blemker. Remember Mr. Blemker, Sugar catches more flies than vinegar. I, Pat McCarty, will my dainty feet to Joan Beach. [Step lightly, Joan.] I, Nila Myers, will my ability to drive without having wrecks to Jim Brighton. I, Sue Pottorff, will my nickname, Boogie to anyone lacking a nickname and who is willing to take the teasing that goes with it. I, Shirley Roberts, will my height to John Ferneding. I, Yvonne Shultz, leave with no regrets, as I have outside interests. I, Marilyn Smith, will my yell suit to Tommy Coyne, who has tried so hard to get one. I, Bob Snyder, will my ability to make straight A ' s to Sammy Goins. I, Judy Stevens, will just leave happily. I, James Stierwalt, will my height to Jimmy Van Buskirk.
