CLASS HISTCRY In the fall of 1952 74 puprls started theu four year stay at Goshen We had the dxstxnctron of be1ng the largest class rn the school's h1story wh1ch was qu1te an honor Mr Ingold was our gu1de and adv1sor for that year Our off1cers were Pres1dent Joyce Beck Vrce Presldent James Jose Secretary James Earley Treasurer Norma Johnson Student Council Robert Kuzma Judrth Knopp Lanny Brunner and Davld Bayless Our HCIIVIIISS for the year 1ncluded a hayrlde takmg State and Scholarshrp tests and a Chrlstmas exchange After enjoyrng the summer vacatlon we returned to school to renew old acquamtances and once a gam start studymg We had lost some classmates so thrs year our enrollment totaled 62 Now the class was dxvlded mto two homerooms Mr Godward s and Mr Van Brockl1n's In Mr Godward's room the offrcers were Presldent Norma Johnson V1ce Presrdent Rlchard Cam Secretary Janet MIHCRS Treasurer Vera Greenamyer The offrcers 1n Mr Van Brockl1n's room were Presldent James Earley V1ce Pres1 dent Thomas Hahlen Secretary Joyce Wycoff Treasurer Lanny Brunner We chose Charles Metz Robert Kuzma Barry Fowler Andrew Burt Dems Karlen Eugene Stoffer John Melssner and Al1ce Stanley as our Student Councxl members We took a freld mp to Cleveland m January to see the movxe Jul Caesar rn connectron wxth our readmg 1n Enghsh Class Mrs Watson and Mrs Brunner were our chaperones for the day Durlng the year we sold football and basketball programs to start savmg money for our Senxor U1 The beg1nn1ng of our th1rd year found us faced wrth the problem of ra1s1ng enough money to take 72 of us to w8ShlHgIOH We decxded to set our goal at S3 500 whxch meant that we had our work cut out for us To begrn wtth we had to be organrzed so we chose James Earley as Presrdent Lanny Brunner as Vrce Presrdent Joyce Beck and Joyce Wycoff as Secretarxes and Judlth Werngart and Jo Ann Carpenter as Treasurers We elected Davrd Herbert and Al1ce Stanley to represent us rn Student Councll Our fund ra1s1ng campargns 1ncluded a paper dr1ve bake sales sponsorrng a turkey raffle roller skatrng part1es dances selllng refreshments at football and basketball games selling Chrxstmas cards candy magazlnes and puttrng on our Jumor Play Arsemc and Old Lace We w1sh to thank our advrsors Mrs Conkle and Mrss Saulmo for helpmg us to reach our goal In September 1955 67 of us came back to school as Semors at long last' Our advrsors for thrs a year were Mr Ingold and Mr Atsalrs the offrcers Presrdent James Earley V1ce Presrdent Lanny Brunner Secretary Jo Ann Carpenter Treasurer Judrth Wemgart Our representatrves 1n Student Councrl were Andrew Burt and Davrd Herbert The class play A Feudm' Over Yonder was a lot of fun to put on and also added some extra cash to our bank account It seemed as though we were workmg just as hard as when we were Junrors We found some trme though to have our pxctures taken and to choose 0111' motto Bu1ld for character and not for fame our colors maroon and wh1te and our flower the carnat1on Fmally wrth the annual completed and the tnp planned we donned our caps and gowns and after Baccalaureate on May 27 and Commencement on May 29 we became graduates of Goshen Hrgh We are sure that after our Washmgton tnp we w1ll have many happy memorres to carry w1th us as we enter a new world a world full of challenges where we all hope to be a success 1 - l 1 n 1 ' 1 ' -1- ' ' -1. -- 1 1 1 1 -- -1- ' 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 - 1 1 1 . . . -- ' . 1 1 1 1 . . . -- . . -- . . --I . - 1 1 1 -- ' ' ' 1 ' ..- ' '- Q O 5 I -- -- -- 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 . . . . . ,, . 1 J ,, . . . . . . 1 1 1 1 P1 1 1 1 - 1 1 1 I I 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 . . n . ,, . . 1 1 1 1 1 , , . 1 SI 1 1 I 3 ' 1 ' 11- ' -- .
