Class Histor What excitement there was on the bright sunny day of September 5, 1950 when fifty-seven freshmen assembled in the freshman home room to meet new and old friends. Mr. Matasy, our advisor, helped us conduct the election of our class officers who were: president-Galen Beck, vice-president-Bruce Reno, secretary-Eileen Bradley, treasurer-Merle Secrest. Our Student Coun- cil members were Galen Beck, Norma Miller,Bernice Sanor, and Darylene Wyse. When school opened again--there we were sophomores. During the first week of school with the help of our advisor, Mr. Van Brooklin, we elected class officers and Student Council members for the year. They were pres- ident-Galen Beck, vice president-Donald Capel, secretary-Eileen Bradley, treasurer-Darylene Myss. Dorothy Clark was our Miss Print reporter. The Student Council members were: Bernice Sanor, Myron Stallsmith,Norma Miller, and Patricia Galbreath. Our class held our yearly hayride in October. The World History Class under the supervision of Mr. Ingold went to Pittsburgh to the Museum. Miss Honaker's Biology Class visited the Cleveland Museum and Zoo. The Latin Class and teacher, Miss Middlesworth, attended the Buhl Planetarium in Pittsburgh. Then in May our class had a picnic at Dunn Eden which concluded our school activites for our sophomore year. We entered the junior room without realizing what a busy year was a- head of us. In order to start out right, we elected our officers. Our officers were: president-Galen Beckgvice president-Darylene Wyesgsecretary- Eileen Bradley, treasurer-Nancy Bricker, assistant treasurer-Myron Stall- smith. Student Council members were: Bernice Sanor, Marilyn Headland, Dorothy Clark, and M ron Stallsmith. Darylene Wyss was elected secretary of Student Council. We started our money-raising campaign to pay for our senior trip to Washington D. C. by selling food at football games. We also earned money by selling hose, sox, Christmas cards, candy, magazines, and by sponsoring bake sales, dances, and roller skating parties. we were the first class to have a carnival, which was a great success. With the product- ion of HFinders Creepersn we accomplished our goal of 32,000. We were greatly helped in our endeavor to raise money by our sponsor, Miss Honaker. Oh! At last we are finally dignified Seniors. We started this year out by selecting our class colors--navy blue and white, flower--red rose, and our motto, Nln ourselves the future lies.n Under the supervision of Mr. Ingold, October 7, we spend the day in Cleveland at the Federal Reserve Bank. We presented the play, HThe Tele- vision Mysteryn under the direction of Miss Honaker,on Friday, November 13, l953. We earned 3300 this year, which will enable us to spend four days on our trip. Now we are looking forward to the exciting night of nGraduation,n and then--Wwashington, look out, for here we come.n Class Will Bob M. Clifford V. Darylene W. Class Prophecy Crystal Ball, Crystal Ball, Your duty is to tell us all About the lives of our 'Sh grads As they tread through life On their various paths. As the haze lifts a Broadway Theater comes into view. It is the WJip- Jointn owned by Kenny Weingart and situated on the corner of Bricker Avenue and h2d Street. This street was named after New York's famous first lady, Mayor Nancy Bricker. As we go up the steps we notice on the billboard that this is the open- ing night for the new smash hit WMemoirs of the Class of 'Shu written by the unsurpassed team of DeVall and Sanor. This is Beverly and Bernice's tenth hit in a row on Broadway. On entering the lobby we see Janet Davis, the owner of the nation-wide NDavis Shoe Stores.u She made a fortune on WNelson's Footsiesn designed by Ida Nelson. We walked to our seats with Beverly Ruggles, editor, and Kathleen Kampfer, society photographer, of the New York K and R Times, the largest newspaper in New York. As we sit down, the orchestra directed by Don Rar- don started playing the overture written and arranged by Richard Gologram. Glancing around we see Richard Bauman, the soft drink tycoon, entering with his manager William Lucas, a very shrewd business man. They manufac- ture UDrink-IteAllU soda nop. Beside us sits Don Capel the Hollywood Talent Scout from Wyss and Gal- breath Studios. Darylene and Patty are planning to make a movie from this stage play. Handsome Bob Miskimins and exotic Shirley Nutt will play the leading parts. ' pmOn the other side of us are sitting Linda Wallace manufacturer of Wwallace Freckle Remover.N With her is her partner Donna Baird who is in charge of the distribution. She travels all over the world selling this product. They tell us that Cora Shewell is the owner of the Break them up or Make them up Matrimonial Bureau. Looking at our programs we see that the glamorous Eileen Bradley is the star and the exciting Galen Beck is her leading man. Now that the play has begun we can see why they are the most demanded team on Broadway. As Miss Bradley enters we see she is wearing a stunning gown created by Malmsberry of New York. Ruth Alice is l of the lO best dressed women of the world because she designs her own clothes. Doris and Geraldine Swiger are her private seamstresses. They sew only for the New York dowagers Dorothy Clark, the young socialite, is their most frequent visitor. You have probably read about her gay parties at her mansion on Sth avenue. Miss Clark's best friend and neighbor, Joanne Summer, arrived late. She has just started a new fad in hair styles, the nKurley Kuen originated by Norma Miller of WLa Charme Solon.W As the curtain falls on the first act and we go to the Lounge, we meet Mr. and Mrs. John Stoffer. Mrs. Stoffer is the former Ada McBride. They are the owners of a large cattle ranch in Texas. After renewing old ac- quantances, we start back to our seats when we see a crowd of people push- ing two fellows around demanding autographs. On closer look we See that it is Bill Gotschall, the owner of the sensational Cleveland Buckeye Basket- ball Team, with his star center, Jim Ramsey. He set a new world's record for shooting baskets. They were flown in from Chicago by Wolford Airlines. Larry just acquired the airline and Jim Taylor is the chief pilot. The second act has just begun when we reach our seats and the new sen- sational singing team, Peggy Criss and Harry Bowker, are introducing a song which we think will soon be on the Hit Parade. Just now there is a commotion and we must stand to let Annette Bush, the noted writer, whose latest book is NHOW To Enjoy Readingu go by. The reason she was late was due to the fact that she got the wrong taxi. It happened to be from WStratton's Better Late Than Neveru Taxi Service owned by Marilyn Stratton. She had to drive it herself because her driver, Clif- ford Virden, was called out to bring the four-star general, Ernest Pifer, from the Queen Mary. He has just returned from active duty in the Pacific. On the way he picked up Ida McBride who was also on the ship. She is Er- nest's traveling secretary. Now that the second act is over,we are invited to go back stage by the famous director, Myron Stallsmith, followed by his 'second brainn Glenda Whitacre. She is the highest paid secretary in the U. S. today as she is always present to see that all appointments are kept. We notice the beautiful scenery drawn by the well-known artist, Carl McCartney. we are introducted to his wife, the former Marilyn Headland, who also acts as his secretary. While we were back stage, one of the stage hands broke his ankle, and they rushed him to the Wyatt Hospital. Janet's head nurse is Sylvia Roth. we know that the stage hand will get the best of care. We got back to our seats just as the third act begins. Looking again at the box seats, we see Sir Donald Blasiman. He inherited a Castle and grounds in England where he is experimenting with a new cow medicine guar- anteed to UKill or Cure.U Beside him is that Wall Street broker, Ronnie Felgar, and Norman Haessly. Ronnie made his money from stock invested in Norman's Clunker Car Corporation, the biggest car manufacturer in the world. After sitting back and seeing the rest of the show, we find the haze once again grows heavy and a clear crystal ball once again is all we can see, as the door of our past slowly closes. Her uncle and guardian, Byron Chase, is greatly concerned over the girl's mental condition and brings in a psychiatrist to see and talk to her. Her condition gets so bad that she finally thinks her fathers ghost steps right out of the screen into the room. Then we find out that the things that Alice sees and hears have been de- liberately planned by the unscrupulous uncle, who has misappropriated some of Alice's funds. He wants Alice admitted to an institution so that he will not have to make an accounting when the girl becomes of age. How Byron's plans go wrong and his associates are unmasked give a surprising and exciting twist to the end of the play. Bud Hallum -------------------. Hester Benham ---------------.-- ..-......
