Mr. McCarty has a way' of making all of us feel that he was sincerely interested in our welfare and all of our school activities. He was al- ways anxious that we get the most out of our school life. He gave unstintingly of his time and effort to make all of his classes interesting as well as instructive. Faculty and students all feel it has been a rare privilege to have known and been associated with him. Mr. McCarty, who coached our football team and who was commonly known outside of class as Mac, was a most sincere and honest companion. All feel his going very deeply and realize that such a noble character can never be replaced. bright, sunny day of September 2, l9b7 that we Seniors started out on our long voyage which was to last four whole years That was for most of us The Admlral of our sh1p was Mr Matasy We started out w1th about flfty two, wh1ch was qu1te a crew, but we knew we would lose some along the way The chlef off1cers on our Shlp were Captaln, Wade Berger, Commander, Clalre he1ngart Although lt may seem strange to have women off1cers, we dld The Stewardlsts were Joyce Stryffeler and Barbara Weingart Throughout the year everyone was kept pretty busy trylng to flgure out a way to get A's without studylnl As another year began, naturally we were glven a new Admlral, ar Tetlow N awnlral would want th1s crew for more than a year Our officers were Captain, Wade Berger, Commander, Edward Ramsayer The Stewardists for th1s year were Barbara Welngart and Carol Stitle One night we declded to dock at Goshen Un1on Bay and go on a hayrlde It was close to Halloween so we took up the ways of w1tches and gObl1nS for part of the evening We borrowed some corn along the way from some of the farmers Later in the evenlng one crew member declded he had lost h1s shoe in one of the corn fields It really wasn't warm enough to go everyone was ready to eat so we went delicious hamburger we went back to crew decided the voyage was too long We decided we should start earning some money for our voyage to Wash1ngton D C We sold plns representlng our school Altogether we earned about flfty dollars durlng this year In the fall of l9h9 we started the thlrd year of our voyage Our Admlral for this year was Mrs McCarty What a Job she was o1ng to have watchlng over a crew bare footed but Duane had no cho1ce By now to Kate's Kottage After we had all enjoyed a the bay to board our shlp Ten members of the and took another course It 18 hard to say how every Senior w1ll feel as he walks up to receive his and ton da an the man Elleen Summers Of course th1s was our b1g year to earn money for our Wa hlng trlp Tasks undertaken during the year were sell1ng basketball penc11s, Every Greet1ng and Christmas cards, collect1ng tax stamps, selling cand , ice cream hot dogs at the basketball games, and the blggest task of all selling magazlnes class received a plaque of ach1evement from the magazlne company for obtain1ng hlghest record of sales Henry Burt recelved a wrist watch for belng hlgh sales The biggest event of the year was chooslng and rece1v1ng our class rlngs even though it was after ChP1Stm3S when we recelved them On November 30th we presented our class play, WTumbl1n' Creek' under the di rection of M s Ol1ve McCarty Throughout the year we had a hayride and a class party The year ended with a crash bang The Juniors rushed 1n to fill the vacancy left by the Senlors in assembly Now we were coming to the la t year of our exciting voyage ue had finally reached our goal of dignifled Senlors This year Miss Patton took charge The officers who were to work under her supervision were Wade Berger, Gale Whitacre, Theresa Furlong and Carol Stitle Our class colors were blue and white w1th the white carnation as our flower class motto was nNe hope, we asp1re, we resolve, we trust U Of course everyone knew what was happening on the day of October ninth, when the Senior boys came to school wear1ng neck ties and suits and the girls wearing their finest As usual lt was pourlng down ra1n to make the day more exciting But naturally Mr Dimit didn't mind He was only taking the pictures By now we had thirty f1ve members aboard our shlp and two more who hadn't de- cided if they would contlnue with us or not The class decided to wear robes for graduation, whlte for the girls and navy for the boys Our announcements were ordered the last Of January nCharley's Auntn was presented by the Seniors on March thirtieth under the directlon of Miss Dorothv Patton As this annual goes to press we are look1ng forward to Baccalaureate,Mhy twen- t1eth, Commencement, May twenty third and the CHARLEY'S AUNT Jack Chesney,v1olently in love with Kitty Verdun, and Charles, equally enamoured of Kiss Spettigue, invite the young ladies to their rooms for luncheon-in order to meet Charley's wealthy aunt from Braul C where the nuts come from J But alas, the millionaire aunt sends word that she will have to defer her visit for a few days What is to be done? The dear young things must not be comprom1sed no, never! but neither will the youths give up the opportunity of declaring their love The prob- l m is solved by forcing another Oxford undergraduate into a black satin skirt, lace fichu, a pair of mitts, an old fashioned cap and wig As Charley's Aunt tnen, this old fr mp is introduced to the sweethearts, to Jack's father, and to Stephen Spettigue, liss Spettigue's guardian The sweethearts hug and kiss Charley's dear old aunt, the two men make love to her Then the real aunt turns up, assumes an- other name In the comic C0nfUS10n which results, young Lord Babberley, pos1ng as the aunt, tricks Stephen Spett1gue into agreeing to the marriage of his ward to Charley, the real aunt marr1es Jack's father, Jack gets Mies Verdun, and WCharley's Auntn regains the fortune he lost at gambling and obta1ns the hand of the glrl he loves Cast of Characters Sir Francis Chesney James Hollinger Stephen Spettigue Gale Whltacre Jack Chesney Donald Brunner Charles Wykeham- Richard Stoffer Lord Fancourt Babberley Robert Hoopes Brassett Henry Burt Donna Lucia d'Alvadorez -Carol Stitle Kitty Verdun Beverly Bayless Ela Delahay Barbara Weingart Farmer Louis Grim laude Dorothy Stryffeler CLASS WILL We,the most lntelligent Sen1qr Class of the year 1951 A D , belng of sound mind and bod ,hereby w1ll and bequeath our most cherished possess1ons in this legal docu ment containing the last will and testlmony of our class ARTICLES Wade Berger leaves his off1ce as President to Don Baird Joyce Stryffeler wllls her queer ways to anyone who can figure them out Duane Lofland takes his arf abllity along home with h1m Theresa Furlong leaves her slim f1gure to Marilyn Bradley Henry Burt wills his winning mlle to Dale Berger I Clalre Weingart bequeaths h1s red hair to any lucky Weingart who doesn have lt VII Dean Granger leaves if he can get h1s car 1D gear VIII Loretta Cornett w1lls some of her brothers and slsters to Lucinda Hole X 3 !xf' NNNN Q Amy Spettigue --------- Eileen Summers I.
