N Q fx' N Q 'iff' fx Class H IS tory Four long years have passed smce that memorable day of September 3 1946 when fxfty two students walked very sedately into the P reshman home room Mlss Stackhouse our understandmg sponsor helped us to become acquamted with all the new rules and requxrements of belng a Freshman For our offlcers of the year we chose Dale Wright as President Don Stratton Vnce Presxdent Gloria Wyss Secre tary and Donald Wutrxck as Treasurer In April, the class presented an Easter chap el program, whxch was well liked by all Of course, we as Freshmen, had to go through the experience of takmg the lntellxgence test Some of the more ambxttous students, took the Academlc tests and several of them went to Mount Unxon on May 3 for the Dxstrnct State Scholarship tests Our Sophomore year was one that was fxlled wxth actxvttles wtth Mr Tetlow as our sponsor This year found our class gettlng smaller with only forty two mem bers For our offlcers thls year, we chose Curt Mosher a new student, as Presl dent B1l1Stayton Vxce Presndent Rxta Edgerton Secretary and Elame Greenamyer as Treasurer It was ln our Sophomore Englxsh class that everyone was gxven the great pleasure of makmg a fxve mxnute speech before the class Beheve xt or not there were quxte a few tongue tled Sophomores The class had a hay rxde whxch was enjoyed by all despxte the ram Jumors At last we had reached the year when the Washmgt on trxp really began to mean something In order to raxse money for the trlp, we sold refreshments at the football and basketball games sold Chrxstmas cards statlonery and pen and pencil sets We also had a bake sale and collected tax stamps P mally the great day came everyone s rmg IS ldentxcal The next btg event was chooslng the class play, THE CAMPBELLS ARE COMING which was presented on March Z5 under the dzrectxon of Mrs Mary Cataland The story was about a htllbxlly famtly and xt seems to have started a lnkxng for thts type of play The officers for thxs year were Presxdent B111 Stayton Secretary Rtta Edgerton and Treasurer, Elame Greenamyer Durtng the year we also had a change of sponsors Mrs Cataland took Miss Shaff s place at the begmmng of the second semester One of the last actlvxttes of the class was a maga zlne contest, ln which Don Stratton recewed a wrxst watch as ftrst prize winner The magazme sales were over the Sl 000 goal set by the company When at last we became hxgh and mighty Seniors we had another great thrall That was bemg able to start the year m the new sectton of the school buxldnng Wtth the capable assxstance of Miss Patton, our sponsor we got through the ordeal of hav mg our ptctures taken m October Mr Dxmxt from Alliance was the photographer We recewed them tn time to send out as Christmas gxfts The class dectded to wear robes white for the gxrls and blue for the boys Our class motto was Exther fmd a path or make one the class flower the whxte rose and the class colors were blue and whtte For officers of thxs important year, Edwm Steer was elected President B111 Stayton Vxce President Slurley Bell Secretary and Ruth Stoffer Treasurer On November ll the class party was held at the home of Rxchard Dunn Games were played and an enjoyable evennng was had by all A delxcxous lunch conslstxng of turkey sandwlches cxder, and doughnuts was prepared and served by Mrs Dunn It was one party which all the Semors wxll remember 16 -9.
