8 years-the Ehrlichman. I8 free. DOLLAR sumer's dollar will buy '7!iHt ' students wanted and needed An Understanding of Government GHS students indeed wanted to know and, for that matter, realized they needed to know and understand the governmental system if, in fact, they were to begin to take that one small step toward becoming an informed and knowledgeable citizen. For the first time in many years, young people began to take notice that govemment affected their daily lives. All at once government and related courses became alive as the instructors had a chance to relate what the students were reading in their textbooks to real life situations. Indeed, Watergate and everything associated with it will go down as a historial event, possibly it will reahirm what our Founding Fathers intended: government for the people by the people, and not government for the people by the govemment. 000 Slhlll stop 17

A Day of Fun and Learning Pizza Making, Judo and Karate, Tennis, Hunting and Trapping, Dog Training, and Sailing may not sound like an ordinary school day, but Mini-Course Project '75 of- fered 63 exciting and unique classes to the students of GHS. Field trips added a special dimension and broadened the interest range of MCP '75. Bowling, Funeral Home, Producing and Recording TV Programs, and Goshen Gen- eral Hospital provided topics which were converted into tours. The idea behind MCP '75 was to give students the opportunity to learn about things beyond the realm of regular school curriculum, for instance students learned sign language, to resist a rapist, to fill out a W-2 income tax form, train a dog, scuba dive, ice a cake, and even hypnotism, this includes only a few of the dozens of experi- ences that were part of MCP '75. Teachers were selected from the com- munity by the MCP '75 Committee com- posed of student council representatives, spearheaded by Doug Huber. ln all cases the teachers were highly qualified instruc- tors in their specialized fields. Mini-Course Days debut was an ex- tremely successful one. Attributed to its prosperity were the many hours of prepara- tion and organization. lt is hoped that Mini- Course Day's first appearance will lead the way to tradition at Goshen High.
