CRIMSON MARCHING BAND Upholding long established tradition of excellence in performance, the Goshen High School Crimson Marching Band once again executed in brilliant fashion its marching manuevers for the thousands of fans at football games at home and away. After a long week of extensive and exhausting practice during band camp, the Crimson bandsmen were prepared for another outstanding marching season. By winning a first division rating in the marching contest, the GHS band demonstrated its continued ex- cellence in performance. Outstanding Marching Bandsman for 1970 was Craig Sar- baugh, head percussionist. Drum Maior for 1970-1971 for the Crimson Band was Sen- ior Mike O'Neill. One saxophonist, a drummer, and three ensembles earned gold medals for superior performances in the Indiana state music contest on February 20, 1971. Craig Sar- baugh won a first for his drum solo and Bill Peterson received a superior for his saxo- phone solo. Goshen won the game 68-65 In the Sectional, the Redskins drew Penn who turned around and defeated the 'Skins for the third time 73-54. Dave Yoder was the only runner to establish a new record as he recorded a fine 4:20.41 in the mile run. Dave es- tablished this record at the Regional meet at Ft. Wayne.
