Girls and Boys State As I look back on Hoosier Boy's State I remember and my feet remember many things. A total of 916 boys were indoctrinated in government, military life, and shav- ing cream warfare. Our govemment education consisted of a short civics course and a practical experi- ence in running our own govemment. This had some unexpected results in some cases, as most of us ended up in jail at one time or another. l've tried to forget the military part but my feet won't let me. We marched every- where and I mean everywhere Also, we received, upon arrival, a two page outline of the proper of making a bed and cleaning a room. Our supervisors for this part of the program were some friendly army sergeants who felt the world would stop if there was a wrinkle in a bedspread. The best way to sum up the after-hour activities of the different command groups would probably be to say th-at when an irresistible force meets an immovable object something has to give. In this case the rules lost. The result was the most tremendous shaving cream and water balloon fight ever recorded in the annuls of history. ' r It was an experience l will always remember.
