September 6, 1960 Summer was gone and with a sih Wie returned to school. Wfe entered through new doors Into halls smelling of wax, paint, Varnish and cleaning solution. Bright hallways. new colors on the walls. Shiny new lockers in neat rows- These were a few of the wonders That awaited us beyond the yellow doors. The days flew past. Eagerly, we watched the steel skeleton That was to he the gymnasium Grow and take form To the accompaniment of thumps, crashes, hangs, The crackle of welding torches and chatter of air hammers. New science labs were created And into the spring we continued to grow. Suddenly it was june again. The last book was closed, And the last locker door shut.
