The close arrangement creates a special intimacy which al- lows for impromptu popcorn parties, hall soccer games and metaphysical discussions. lt also creates some prob- lems. For example, everyone has a dif- ferent opinion as to what constitutes dinner music. As one student la- mented on the opinion board, l find it to be of the utmost irony to bow my head with the intention of thanking God, only to be distracted by Pat Ben- atar screaming about crimes of pas- sion. -g, 'G-J' -S Jana Gerber, Beth Bowman A further difficulty centered around the open door policy, Students and administration met head-to-head over the unlatched clause in the student handbook. As one dorm resident put it, the clause is a breach of privacy and trust. A campuswide survey taken among on-campus residents showed students overwhelmingly in favor of adopting the added responsibility in- volved in latching a door when a member of the opposite sex is in the room. The matter has yet to be decid- ed by the administration. f E
