Untitled Times just get mean, sometimes, you know There I was, late again, Cutting across the grass, 1 Notebook burps And there's papers everywhere in The ravenous spring breeze- l'm grabbing by handfuls To stuff them back in, while the crowds walk by Some greetings. Damn, said l, next guy that asks how l'm doing gets busted in the mouth Well, along comes this guy they call God, Briefcase at his side, hair combed, the whole bit this shirt tail was tucked ini His smile as bright as the moon He says, Hi, how are you doing? You go out the door and down the street on a black clicking black midnight bicycle: lsit with my book. You go out alone and the door and the street and I are drawn along behind you, as needle pulls thread. Phil Diller lfrom Subject to Changel Winter all the Same The car was slow in growing warm, and conversation too was cold. Our thoughts and words would take the form of exhaled, frozen breath, and hold our time-worn friendship in the cloud. The radio played nothing new, and and even silence was too loud. With little else to say or do, we found the bar and drank our beer, then left the place when it seemed right. The air was pure and winter clear, and fields were touched with silver light. The trees seemed set with precious stone, and black earth broke from rippled snow. Some magic had been loosed and grown To give the earth a frigid glow. But it was winter all the same. loy Hess, lohn Lapp The collagraph National Park was given by friends, faculty, and students in memory oftvlarion M. Bontrager, associ- ate professor of mathematics from 1968 to 1974. They wished to find something that everyone could enjoy and that could portray Professor Bontrager's love of the outdoors. This was on display in the Mennonite Artists exhibit and novv hangs in Science Hall. Fred Steiner, Chris Klassen
