Major Elements of the Goshen Plan A. The Study-Service Trimester ISSTQ is an intercultural laboratory for general education--fourteen weeks of living in an under- developed foreign culture of the Western Hemisphere, with about seven weeks spent in getting acquainted with the culture through lectures, usually by native specialists, field trips, seminars, intensive language study and collateral reading and seven weeks in a PAX, VS or Peace Corps type of service. SST Teams will be comprised of 12-20 students and one faculty couple. The members will normally live with a family of the .host country. In establishing the SST, the faculty voted its conviction that the educated man and the effective Christian of the future must be detribalized --set free from his genealogical, denominational or national tribe to join the world-wide tribe in which there is no east nor west, neither Jew nor Greek. . . B. The Trimester Calendar is a wonderfully flexible instrument. The ' dates of the three trimesters, 1968-69, will be: Fall Trimester: September 9 - December 19, 1968 Winter Trimester: January 6 - April 11, 1969 Spring Trimester: April 28 - August 1, 1969 Q4 terms, beginning April 28, May 22, June 16, July 101 the trip SST: plans for ta ke-olf study service trimester, future of the college committee, progression, action, academic quality, travel, the trip that is, enthusiasm, service for culture, the framework laid this year.
