HIGHLIGHTING THE 1955-56 Lecture- Music series was the appearance of the Indianapo- lis Symphony Orchestra under the direction of lzler Solmen lbelowi. Their program included Bee- thoven's Fidelio Overture and Symphony Number 4 by Tchaikovsky. The L-M series had opened three weeks earlier with an address by Norman Cousins, Saturday Review Editor. NOT ALL THE MUSIC heard on campus was imported, by any means. Students interested in creating their own music joined the Music Club ltop righti. Their activities ranged from singing madrigals to studying jazz. President of the Music Club was Ernest Hostetler, senior music major. Others who appreciatethetine arts were members of the Language Arts Club lbelow righti. lrmgard Klassen presided over this organization, whose members consider reading poetry and sipping tea an ideal way to spend a cold fall evening.
