9 5,551 ONE HUNDRED NINETY-SIX FRESHMEN joined 430 returning upper classmen at Goshen College this fall--a total of 626 full time students. During Freshman Days new members of the college clan struggled with the who's and why's of campus life. Those who survived the barrage of entrance exams found release at social activi- ties planned for them by student counselors. TO THE CASUAL OBSERVER as well as to those who are part of it, life for the little worlds of Goshen College may seem to be a helter-skelter chase rather than a well-organized march. ln the maze of Record deadlines, exams and committee meetings, momentary pressures fade long range views. From Persia, Japan and Argentina, from Souderton, Denver and Koutsg students joined in dormitory life and dining hall fellowship. xi tb s--11'V 'A X X -t s' i W- A - --- In a series of five chapel messages, Lawrence Burk- holder helped lay a sturdy spiritual foundation for the year. He asked, for example, What part do confession and for- giveness have in the close living of today's campus? . Students and faculty were faced with questions basic to life in a Christian community.
