Though young in years, he desired to be in the armed forces cf our country and proudly wore the Uniform of a Ma- rine. We will always remember Eill as the cheerful, happy lad with the sunny smiles------the brave Marine faithful to the end who gave his life for us. H'Twas yesterday that he walked out-- cheerful, happy glad-- To go and do what he could do Our boy, our own brave lad. He didn't think of self l'm sure-- adventurous it would he-- Proud of the uniform he wore Prdud of the land of the free. Happy and glad that he had a place-- so he sailed the troubled sea-- And gave his all for his country America, and you and me. He was just a village lad, who marched in the march of time, But his star has turned to gold today And for Gorham High it will always shine. We can't be watching for his return but always shall we behold, And love and reverence that one little star That so soon was changed to gold.q 7.

3 N Mt. MQ RIA M miss DONALD EDDLBMAN James Donald Eddleman was born August 23, lQ2cQ and passed away June 7, l94j. Monday morning, September 23, l943--the first day of school in Gorham Community High School-fmuch as usual-- cld acquaintances, new faces--HHi Maryn---HHello EobH-- Udlad to see you back, Annie.n f Yet the Senior Class felt something amiss--a loss in our circle of friends accumulated in three years of high school. Someone was missing. No one mentioned the loss, but every Senior Was con- scious of the fact that there was no Jim to dodge with uis friendly UHiU accompanied by a thump on the head or a steg- erine blow between the shoulders. Funloving, hearty, and friendly--sometimes boisterous--but courteous toward teachers and older people--always in the midst of things and the life of our group. Basket ball season--a lifelong team mate, a swell athlete, and the best of good sports was missing. Another boy took the vacant place on the bench, but no one will take Jim's place. Demerits? Little mischievous stunts? Jim, our class- mate and friend, would have been a part of them. Merits? Commendable worth-while achievements, such as the paper, the annual, scrap drives, and other activities? Jim would have done his share. As we carry out these tasks, as We plan this annual, Jim's memory is with us. Graduation Exercises--the seats ere filled--all but one--in our hearts we will never forget--a plece vacant-M Yours, Jim. 8,
