WELCH .Hn Wlemonq of Stephen Wine Stephen was a quiet boy. When the rest of us were whispering in class he was quiet. When we would crowd ahead of one another in line at the drinking fountain Stephen would wait patiently, never pushing or crowding. Stephen wasn't always quiet, no sir, he wasn't. Sometimes when some of us kids had thought up a good story to tell our teacher about how long our assignment was, Stephen would say it wasn't long at all and what's more it was easy and he wished it was longer. When the rest of us boys were making slingshots that wouldn't work, it was Stephen who showed us his working m0Clel - It worked so good we were going to make him president of our slingshot factory. Since that Friday night when Stephen iourneyed to that great Up- stairs, we know he is still his pleasant, quiet self. Until that day when we meet again we'll forever keep his smile in our hearts. QM-gf WW ' X if 7X8 if if f' X if Claaa 'Pnophecq It's a beautiful June day and the scene in the home of the former Carol Brehm, now Mrs. Darrell I-libbard. lt has been twenty years since the class's last get-together. The occassion is the celebration of Carol's 20th wedding anniversary. We arrived early in the morning so we could get a birds-eye-view of everyone as they came. First to arrive is Pat Brackman who is now married. Pat also is the owner of a chain of gas stations. Must be the experience she gained in Fayette has helped in her success. Carol's guest entertainer is now arriving. Well, if it isn't Ken Colegrove who is now a big name singer on T.V. Tagging along behind, is Larry Cochran, the world's most famous dance teacher. Speaking of teachers, the old class has acquired quite a few. Among the ones who have arrived is Marge Colegrove, who is an old maid elementary teacher. What happened Marge? Following her at the door is Susie Maginn who is now giving voice lessons, besides raising her family. My, doesn't Pat Link have a healthful look? Taking care of five boys is quite a job, and Pat is a Phys. Ed. teacher besides. Marilyn Fether reports she is coming along fine, giving accordian lessons. Who's this coming up the drive in that big Cadillac? It looks like Larry Kuney. His well-known beauty salons the world over must have made him his first million already. Here comes Judy Lloyd driving up behind Larry. We hear she is one of the best taxi drivers they have in New York City. She must have got her experience when she was a senior in Fayette High School. With her is Jan Huntley. Get a load of her crazy outfit! ! Being the editor of the Society Column for the New York Times really keeps her in the swing of thin s. The former Jean King, who is now the head nurse in the Toledo Crippled Children's Hospital, has just arrived with Arlene Keefer, who is also on the nursing staff at the hospital. Well, it looks like a truce! The army and air force are both represented. By now, Don Beaverson is a general in the army. Nancy Miller is also doing O. K. as a WAF commander. My, who is this under that big ten-gallon hat? Why, it's Rollin Miller who is one of the biggest ranch owners in Texas. Sue Thomas, who is president of a bank in St. Louis, tells us that she has just given Ronnie Whaley and Dean Smith a loan to build another house in the woods. fTheir last one blew down., By the way, Dean and Ronnie have become very good homemakers. Quite an achievement, boys! Nancy Sebring, who is private secretary to the president of General Motors is being escorted by Curt Heximer who is now head draftsman at G. M. Mary Ann DeWulf, who is now married is spending most of her time teaching her boys to be athletes and commercial artists. Lyle Bates tells us he has been following his father's footsteps. He must have covered quite a few floors by this time. We're sure it's Dick Jacoby but what in the world is he doing? ROLLER SKATING??????? Guess he's just practicing for his next performance. My, My, Don! Why the beard? Oh, that's right, you're playing with the House of David basketball team now, aren't you? We hear he's known as Don Juan Lucas. What's that new car just driving up? Must be Harvey Potter. He's just invented a new car for the Ford Motor Company. Who's this handing out silver dollars? It's Gary Van Valkenburg, who is just advertising for his famous gambling house, The Silver Dollar. Doesn't Jon Schaffner look sharp? Since he has become his wife's agent he has become very fashion conscious. Speaking of fashions, how do you like the dress Marilyn Leininger is wearing? It is one of her latest creations. She says she is coming out with a New Look in the fall. By the way, Marilyn has become one of the best known designers of the day. Wow! Get a load of that! lf it isn't Joe Sarnac in his new Rolls Royce. How do you like Texas, Joe? We hear you are doing very well in the oil business. Well, here comes Jack! fMitchell that is.j Jack has just recently set a record as the fastest sign painter in the United States. School must be out. Here comes Griff Griffith. Griff is now superintendent of the Fayette Public School System. How do you like this angle of school, Griff? One of the last guests to arrive is Homer Keefer. Homer tells us he is married now, and owns a large hog farm in Oklahoma. Who's this with the patch over his eye? It must be Dick Fredrick, who has just won the heavy-weight championship of the World. lt must be Bob Beaverson, who is his manager, didn't throw in the towel. We hear Bob is really working on Dick for his next fight. To bring the perfect ending to a perfect day, Larry Shoemaker will sing the Anniversary Waltz. Larry gets his practice from singing love songs on Bride and Groom. h Before leaving, we all gathered together to reminisce over our high school days, and make plans to meet again in t e year 2000. 20 fluniona . 1. b - 1 J ,, G , , , Im.
