CLASS HISTORY fContrnuedj desks for our new students3 lt seemed that everyone wanted to jom our Group that year 1 wonder lf It was because they thought we looked lxke an mtelllgent group3 To our regret five students wxthdrew that year They were Orvllle Layman oan Bair lvan Ballmer Ruth Brackney and Nelda RClUSCCkCI The next year when we were Freshmen we thought we were really grown up' After all we were 1n hlgh school and aren t all hxgh school students grown up5 We gained fue new students that year They were Darell Blaker Steve Schultz Paullne Walters Rlchaxd Moden Robert Scott and Lloyd Powers Oh yes there were three who wxthdrew They were Rlchard Moden Robert Scott and Lloyd Powers Our Sophomore year was started wlth the same class which had flmshed the year b fore and we dxcl not obtaxn any new members that year We were sorry to see so man, withdraw too We sand goodbye to Rena Bell Clme Paullne Walters Nellle Stltes Mary Stltes Myrna Gardner Verda Cllmo and Olvllle Layman ln our umor year we welcomed one new student lrene Layman We were sorry to lose ean Double Betty Balser Lyle Towne and lrene Layman Remember the play w worked so hard to put on5 The name of xt was Freckles wasnt 1t3 Oh yes and th t was the play everyone thou ht was so good No wonder they llked lt It was our class th t the fun we had at the unlor and Senlor Banquet over at Esther s near Wauseon3 We had plenty of headaches trymg to declde the arrangements but lt was great fun all the whlle Then at last we became Semors and ex eryone seemed to be closer frlends Maybe xt was because we reallzed lt would be our last year together I am sure none of us wlll for get the day we journeyed to Toledo to have r ur pxctures taken We believe our Senlor ye ll m school was the most excltlng of all and we were very sorry that Darrel Knlsely dldn t co 1 tmue with us Mr Rich gulded us through thxs busy year and Mr Leuthold helped us with our umor Senlor Banquet and other actlvxtles whlle we were umors mi iowa' . 1 . . Gee l can taste lt yet lf l remember rlvht Lyle Burley Marvel D Lamater mor Holmes and Steve Schultz were the new members of our class Steve wlthdrew the last of the year As we recall ln 1939 we surely were proud travelmv way up the hall past M1 Thompson s office swmgln our lunch palls and Urlnnmg from ear to ear The ones leav mg our llttle fold thls year were Patricia Blossmvham oan Burr Mary Hess and Vlrfnnra Wxlder We welcomed Robert Axford Verda Cllmo Wend ll Clmton Bertha Martln Dale brood dldnt she3 An operetta Lazy Town was presented by us And that fourth year when we went lIltO the fourth grade room where our new teacher Miss Vera Schaffner who later became Mrs Cooley awaited us We were very proud to present an operetta thls year called Cobbler of Falryland What fun we had workm thls out l ll bet the teacher was surely lad when that was over with all the head aches she probably had As l remember the newcomers were Robert Allen Lyle Town and Robert Krohn We were sorry Dorothy Steenhuysen Corme Cannon and ames Fldler were unable to remam with us We proudly clxmbed the staxrs m l94I to MISS Dons Gamble s room l remember It surely was a wonderful feellng belng on the same floor wlth the hugh school It made us feel that we were growmg up Our new members this year were Doyce Humphrey Nellie Stltes Evelyn Osterhout Clarence Felkey and Paul Stockburger Mary Dell Ford Mildred and Alvln O Brlan and Nellie Stltes were dropped from the roll Near the close of the year the operetta TaffyAnn was presented by the Grade children Our slxth school year was nnstructed by Chester Stowell who asslsted us wxth the pUbllSl'lll'1g of the Echo We had thirty two pupils ln our class that year slx of which were new faces The new ones were Robert Scott oan Barr Robert Wlnzeler Mary Murry and Irene and Orville Layman Dunn our seventh year we welcomed three more new students They were Ruth Brackney Nelda Rewsecker and Howard Keefer ThlS was our first year to start changmf' classes 'Those flrst few days were a llttle hard to get used to but we soon found our way about and are now shall we say The honoxcd Semors of 48 The students to withdraw that year were Wendell Clinton Clarence Felxey and lrene Layman ln our exvhth year of school we had eleven new members to add to our class roll They were Colleen Ford Nellie Stltes Mary Dtltes ean Double Betty Wollet Doris Tay lor lvan Ballmer Darrel Kmsely Myrna Ca dner Betty Ballser and Lloyd Powers R member how they had to keep puttxng us m cllfferent rooms so that we would have enough 21 J f 1 rl I 13' I' N I I I i .D D. . . . i . g . - . . . . u . .5 E . . . . . .
