This year was one of the most ex- traordinary years for cross-country in the history of Gordon. In the words of Coach Schalek, we were “Mighty”. We were not to sure of our success at the beginning of the year, since we lost our second best runner and our Head Coach, Mike Martorano. We started out the season as usual. We ran during the hot summer days, went to Wyalusing, and attended the annual Kedges pool party, One run- ner excelled us all in his summer training. Captain Pete Uliasz ran yet another 1,000 miles bringing his 3 year toal up to 3,000! Only three other GT runners have achieved this goal. We started the season a week later than usual. This gave us only a week- and-a-half till our first race. We had a time trial our first day of practice which showed us that we would need more practice. We knew what we had to do though, and we set out to do it. The next race was proof to us that we could indeed meet our goal. It was a dual meet against Ignatius and we didn’t just beat them, we clobbered them. We took 1,2,3,5, and 11. Now we were rolling.
