RliV. VRANCISJ. ROCL CR REV. MITCHELL J. Religion lll.lV. TADI A. CR Religion l.ll. Religion Department Religion is at the base ol' a Christian's life. It is the duty of a Catholic high school to make the students more aware of their religious re- sponsibilities and to execute these with con- viction and purpose. New concepts in liturgy have been emphasized by the folksong Mass and the Mass ofConcelebration. The Resurrection Fathers have given the students many opportunities to participate ac- tively in the expression ol' their faith. Masses are said daily and confessions are continually held for the student's benefit. Retreats have been expanded in number this year to increase opportunities to realize the necessity of com- municating with God. Seniors and juniors have a chance to make private retreats outside the school. Religion teachers encourage participa- tion in active religious groups in and outside Gordon so that the students might be able to make their faith something visible and last- ing. REV. THEODORE J. M E is m.Q.,, The complexity of the world provides a chal- lenge for many students today. ln order to cope with this reality, the guidance counselor examines these problems with the student. He interviews the individual during which time his scholastic performance in standardized tests as well as class achievements is discussed and evaluated. Each respective year has its own guidance counselor. Closed circuit T.V. programs pro- vide topics which encourage the student to develop his character, choose a future career, and improve his study habits. Career Day, a day set aside by the guidance depart- ment for interviews and conferences on pro- spective careers, enables the student to learn more about their careers from profes- sionals in these fields.
