Hearing of the up-coming Save the Children drive in December, the sophomore class officers got together to decide upon a course of action for the class. Our general feelings were similar to those expressed by Tom Thurman in his campaign speech when he said that with the number of students in our class and the enthusiasm we have, I feel we should take a greater part in the Student Council activities and school functions than we have in the pastv. This drive seemed to be a good place to start. A sophomore class meeting was called. We talked of holding a competition type drive within the class. The sophomore rollroom representatives liked the idea of letting the sophs be heard in this cause. And we found out with a great response, during the first two weeks in December sophomore rollrooms contributed outgrown, but not outworn, clothing by the bag, box, and armful. Altogether we brought in 965 pounds of clothing, which equalled that of the other two classes put together. The winning rollroom was Mr. Johnson, room 151 with 221 pounds.
