illlarg lliagnvr Death seems such a tragedy when it comes to a young person so full of promise. This was the thought foremost in everyone's mind when, on May 5, 1960, news was received of the death of Mary Wagner. Teachers and classmates alike fondly remember her friendliness toward everyone. As one of her closest friends remarked, She never passed me in the hall without saying 'hi' or stopping to talk for a while. Mary's quiet, sweet disposition, her ready smile, and her bright hello are the fine characteristics for which she will be remembered. An excellent student, Mary attained high scholastic honors throughout her high school days. Although much of her time was devoted to school work, Mary found time to sing in the choir and to assist the business staff of the Cardinal. Teachers admired her cooperative attitude and dependabiltiy. School was an im- portant part of Mary's life: however, she also had many outside interests. She enjoyed church work and participated in many of its activities. Working on handicraft projects and sewing for herself and her family filled many happy hours. When death chose Mary Wagner, it took a very special person. Yet because Mary joyfully and successfully lived life, her life somehow seems com- plete. Memories of Mary are happy ones which will be retained forever. PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE Fellow classmates, at this commencement time we are to go our individual ways. As president of the Senior Class, I take this opportunity to thank the faculty and all who helped us to prepare for this new phase of our lives. It is our responsibility to build on the foundation we have laid with their guidance. Our days in school have been filled with many memorable occasions, but not until May 5, 1960 did tragedy enter into our high school lives. Mary Wagner passed from us. She was the kind of girl that always wore a smile and never tried to hurt anyone. She was always ready to help her classmates with an extra hard physics problem or a confusing sentence in English. Her kind smile and radiant good will made an everlasting impression on all who knew her. Because Mary was that kind of person, memories of her will live forever with her friends. I am sure Mary would say with me - the best of luck, much happiness and may God bless you all. IIM VAN VALKENBURG Page Ninety-three
