01644 On a balmy day in September, 1937 approximately ninety superby intelligewq freshmen entered upon the premises of secondary education. Amid confusi Miss Helen Robinson was elected Sponsor. Burney Bond was elected to lead us through this irst eventful year. He was assisted by VicefPresident Ann Langford. and Paul Schleicher as Secretary and Treasurer. Frances Drake was elected Football Queen of 1938. This recordfbreaking freshman class wound up the year in astounding fashion by cinching third place in the inter-class contest. , The following year the Sophomore Class was under the sponsorship of Miss Mary Butler Boyd. Paul Schleicher was named Presidentg VicefPresident was Jack Zeitlerg Secretary and Treasurer was Elizabeth Garrett. During this year our ranks were sadly diminished, but we held our own by cinching traditional third place in the interfclass contest. As upperfclassmen prepared for a great year, we started with Mr. Capps as our Sponsorg jack Zeitler was President, Elizabeth Garrett was Vice'President, and Paul Schleicher was Secretary and Treasurer. In March, Mr. Capps departed and Miss Tibbs was elected his successor. On the Ides of March we rang the bell with a very successful Irish Fair. With the proceeds which were derived from this event we entertained, the Seniors. This year we rose to second place in the interfclass contest, losing first place by a mere fifteen points. The junior year was climaxed by a gala outing at Cedar Forest on May 24. The outing was tabbed a great and enjoyable success and a good time was had by all. Our final year was entered upon with high hopes of this being our most successful one. With due consideration, Mr. Tune was elected Sponsorg Robert Cartwright was Presidentg Fred Carnahan was VicefPresident, and Jack Zeitler was Secretary and Treasurer. This class published the most complete and finest annual in the history of the school under the leadership of jack Zeitler as Editor and other members of the staff. The Seniors presented Bachelor's Choice on May 1. The play was put over in a fine fashion and was tabbed a great success. A Senior of the Class of '41 could be identified by a small green book known as Literature and l..ife'Book IV. As we close our senior year with regret and a brighter outlook on life, it is the wish of each Senior, of the Faculty and coming Classes at Goodlettsville High School that the school may continue its upward trend. It is the wish of each and every Senior to bid all an affectionate farewell. ALICE COURTENAY. 'a Page Twenty-tlaree
