I., on the eve of the wedding of Madge Carr, the daughter of William Carr, an absent minded man, to a youth, James Cluney, who is troubled with fits of kleptomania. A new lady's maid, Nellie Jones, is introduced into the house. Dr. Willoughsby knows Cluney is a kleptomaniac and is trying to keep the secret. Mrs. Carr also knows that Mr. Carr has the same fault and is trying to keep her secret. The lady's maid hap- pens to be advance agent for a thief, Jack Doogan, the man she is to marry. He arrives, unknown to anyone but Nellie, and together they lay plans for relieving the house of the burden of the wedding presents. ACT II.-Dr. Willoughsby is caught at the safe, trying to re- place the bonds, which the family think has been stolen. Meanwhile Doogan finds it easy going. Cluney believes Doogan to be the detective he has sent for, and accuses him of removing the valuables that are lllllllllllllllllIIlllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIllIlIllllllllllllllllllllllIIIlllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllIIIIIllllIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIlllllllllllllllllllIIllllllllllllllllllIllllllllllllllllllIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII

Those smiles seemed to be contagious and the sandwiches and ice cream delicious, because that lunch stand was the main attraction throughout the Fair. Everybody seemed to have come to eat and the Seniors to sell. They were busy all the time filling the roders and collecting the dimes and quarters. Thus the first day of the Fair passed and the second was still more satisfying to the Seniors, as everyone seemed to be more hungry tha never and naturally came where he could get more for less money. The second day passed and the Seniors had made much more out of their lunch counter than they had ever anticipated. Thus the reader sees that this is one of the many Ways used by the Seniors to make money to finance their annual, the book you are now reading. But the Sesser Fair is now passed and Commencement will soon be here and the good old G. B. T. H. S. will soon close its doors forever to the merry Seniors of '24, but their thoughts will still linger there, the place Where they spent profitably, the early springtime of their lives. Perhaps some of those Seniors will go ahead to the Universities and continually add to their knowledge of the world around them, the first flickering glimmers of which they caught in the G. B. T. H. S. Perhaps some will become men and women of prominence but all will be a hundred times better than they would have been if they had not completed their High School courses. All of them will have much better homes than they would have had otherwise and perhaps all of them will have the occasion to be resting in an easy rocking-chair of a well furnished home casually scanning pages of the annual of the class of '24 when they chance to recall the Senior lunch stand which helped make possible the book and the results of which spurred them onward to greater activities. No, they can never forget the part which the Senior stand played in financing this annual and thus helping the Board of Education to put the school before the opening eyes of the public and later to make it one of the foremost High Schools of South- ern Illinois. -Henry Cockrum, Class '26. Mr. Carr gives him all of his, money to keep for him and all the rest of the family tell him the whereabouts of their valuables. Just when Nell and Jack have gotten everything that is of value and are ready to make their get-a-Way , Mr. Jamison arrives and de- mands certain stocks which he has given Mr. Carr as collateral for a loan he is now ready to repay. The stocks can't be found. The money is stolen by Nell. Mrf Jamison leaves, threatening everyone with punishment, and brings in the officers with a Warrant. Doogan steals the warrant' and places it in the pocket of the absent minded Mr. Carr. ACT III.-Now here's Where the fun begins, when the officer hold the whole family at the point of his colt, While Waiting for another warrant to appear. Meanwhile the thieves are trying to escape. At last the bonds are recovered and the money is found in the minister's pocket. The minister recovers With, I wish Ihad a drink of whiskey. Jack then holds up the whole party at the point of a pistol and the absent minded Carr returns with all the booty which he has recovered. Jack and Nell promise to lead honorable lives henceforth and are therefore forgiven. Then for a grand conclusion there is a triple Wed- ding and everybody is happy and gay. Velma E. Moore, Class '24.
