mas season. which consisted in the hurning of the Yule-tide trees and the singing of carols outdoors. Hur fifth War Loan Drive was launched just hefore the January CXHIII- inations. The new term opened with a farewell in honor of Mrs. Haley. formerly Miss lfvelyn Hyan. professor of German and history. She had joined the United States Army signal forces. Mr. l.eo l. Kearney. long respected and esteemed memlver ofthe faculty. was also lauded hy the college on the occasion of his fortieth anniversary as a memher of the New York City Board of Education. :Xt the same celebration. Bishop Kearney in- vested nine new freshmen in their caps and gowns. ln Fehruary the Red Cross Linit was organized and many of us proved our interest in its activities. We then held a Valentine tea dance which was well attended. A number of freshmen took part in the Lenten play and on St. Patrickis Day our class had perfect attendance at the parade in New York. Many rehearsals were held in preparation for the Gay Nineties Revue. The Barbershop Wiimlowf' as the musical was called. proved well worth the time and elforts it had taken to write and produce it. The next red letter day was May 6th. the date set for the freshman dance. The forsythia. cherry hlossoms. dogwood. and violets which covered the campus proved very heautiful decorations for the affair. Before the final examinations were scheduled we attended the traditional lrirthday dinner: thc senior spring dance: and the celehration of our heloved Reverend Nlother Mary Aloysia's anticipated feastday. Mass was offered for her and a special program was presented in the auditorium in her honor. The last week of our freshman year made us realize that we. too. would take part in those same ceremonies hut a few years hence. We eagerly watched the sophomores carry their lovely ivy chain: the juniors rise to senior rank at pine walk: and lastly. the seniors win their laurels for four years of endeavor. With the impress of class day exercises and commencement still hright in our minds we lnade one another farewell with promises to write often and with plans to return in the full. ,Yulure ix beautiful. ulzcnys beuulifuI.
