OUR LADY OF LOURDES Father Cataldo and his Jesuit contreres found a new field tor their zeal when the whites loegan to settle Spokane Falls. ln i881 a blacksmith shop was converted into a temporary church. Five years later Spokane Catholics celebrated the dedication ot Our Lady ot Lourdes church. Built by Father Aloysius Jaquet, S. J., the church was located on Main and Bernard, where part of the original building still stands. The blacksmith shop became St. Ignatius Preparatory School, the forerunner of Gonzaga High School.
