To be a member of this society means to place oneself under the guiding care of the Blessed Virgin without Whose aid no.ne of us can expect to attain success in a spiritual way. At the beginning of the year the Sodality was organized by Father Buschor. Weekly meet- ings were held in the chapel or elsewhere. In order to secure necessary funds, a raffle was given early in the first semester. Throughout the entire year this organization has been engaged in several social gatherings. Two religious debates, a smoker, and a theatrical production were some of the important events in the Sodality's program. Towards the end of the second semester a solemn reception of new members and a picnic at Mount Saint Michael brought the year to a successful close. l 40 1

J. St. John Berchman's Society is one of the 'oldest and most important organizations in the high school. It is made up of resident students for the purpose of instructing them in the proper assistance at the Mass. Aside from the piety and reverence which such an organization inculcates upon the minds and hearts of its members, this society develops the character of the individual. During the year, the members of the society eagerly availed themselves of their special privi- lege, to serve all the Masses in the Boys' Chapel. Short business meetings, held frequently, were concluded with games and refreshments. l 39 l
