The enthusiasm shown during the first few days was a portent of the spirit which they manifested in all extra- curricular activities. In the oratorical contest. J. Hurley, J. Riordan, and J. Lally capably represented the class. while F. White, Riordan, and Hurley competed in the elocution contest. In the field of athletics, M. Cain, R. McBreen and P. White gave creditable performances. J. Koch, captain-elect, distinguished himself as a member of the City Championship, All-City, and Shrine football teams. Other branches of sport were dependent upon this class for material. The High School bas- ketball team was bolstered by J. DeSmeth, Devlin, and Riorclan: interclass track brought forth such men as Cain, McCarry, Royce, O'Brien, McBreen, and Molitor. f24l

Douglas Day Vice President ,,,...,,... ,,,,, A ubrey Rowles Secretary-Treasureru ,,.,, ,,,,,, J oseph Behrens Third High C is not a large class, yet its members have done more for the Welfare of Gonzaga than its numbers would lead one to suppose. In the field of athletics, especially, the students of Three C have been outstanding. Day, Behrens, Seale, and Rowles played on Gonzaga's city cham- pionship football team. Day also took part in the Shriners' benefit game. In baseball, track and basketball, members of the class have been likewise prominent. Joseph Behrens upheld the honor of the class in public speaking when he won the right to compete in the annual Gold Medal Debate. Aub Rowles, genial class comic, held a position of importance on the Luigian staff, and no little part of the excellence of this book is due to his untiring efforts. Looking back over the past year, we, of Three C, are pardonably proud of our accomplish- ments. To the graduates of '31 we bid farewell and wish them success in life's journey. i261
