Superintendent To the student body: As we engage in the task of educating and being edu- cated we need to pause occassionally to clear our thinking about what constitutes education . Perhaps the best and truest definition of education was made by Albert Einstein when he said, Education is that which remains after you have forgotten everything you learned at school. What Einstein meant was both very simple and very pro- found. He meant that education is not a mass of inert facts or ideas, but an attitude, a gyle, an appetite, an approach, a frame of mind, a continuing function of the full person- E What is an educated person then? Clearly it is not merely one who has lots of information: or one who can accomplish some technical, specialized jobg or merely a person who has finished school with good grades. It seems to me that a really educated person is one who functions at his full potential as a human being in the kind of world he lives in. It is my hope that your work this year at Sugar Creek School has been a rewarding experience and that you are well on the road to being a truly educated person. J. E. SANDY Board of Education J. Dedication It is with love and respect that the class of 1967 dedicates the twentieth edition of the Echo to our teacher and friend, Mary Ethyl Faulkner. With the end of the 1966-1967 school year, Miss Faulkner marks the completion of forty years of service to our school. She has XCEL ALI, tzlvwvfsa ifvmqriaia . taught general mathematics, algebra, geom- etry, trigonometry, French, and English. ln March the Parent-Teacher Association honored her for her faithful service through the years. They also presented her with several gifts and a cake for her birthday. Thank you, Miss Faulkner, for your many years of unselfish service. You have touched many lives in your years of teaching at Gomer. We know you are proud of our community and school, and we are very proud of you. 3
