Superintendent To the student body: As we engage in the task of educating and being edu- cated we need to pause occassionally to clear our thinking about what constitutes education . Perhaps the best and truest definition of education was made by Albert Einstein when he said, Education is that which remains after you have forgotten everything you learned at school. What Einstein meant was both very simple and very pro- found. He meant that education is not a mass of inert facts or ideas, but an attitude, a gyle, an appetite, an approach, a frame of mind, a continuing function of the full person- E What is an educated person then? Clearly it is not merely one who has lots of information: or one who can accomplish some technical, specialized jobg or merely a person who has finished school with good grades. It seems to me that a really educated person is one who functions at his full potential as a human being in the kind of world he lives in.
