'HISTORY On September 3, 1946, sixteen little angels entered the Pearly Gates of Gomer High School, only to find twelve years of hard labor awaiting them. Under the six watnhfdl eyes of Miss Griffiths, Ctwo in her glasses, and two 13 the back of her head? we started to learn the three R's. Carol Sue Metzger and John Smith were chosen to act as the crown bearers for the Halloween Carnival, September 6, l948, finds us in the third grade Among the things we remember most about this year were our love notes, which were found by Mrs. Beougherc The fourth grade was much the same, September 6, 1950, is the date on which we entered the fifth grade with Mrs, Daughtry as our teacher, During these years we began Dreparing for High Schools We started our first club, each eager to become an officer. We felt the blow of discipline in Hplacesu where it hurt, when we would have to go outside the room and get our hands cracked, or stand in the coat-room. In the fall of N52,H Mrs, Jones took on the great task of leading us, and during our eighth year Mr. Ackerman was our advisor. We started our Freshman year with Mr. Sandy as our class advisor. This was the year when we were finally promoted to the Study Hall. Our class officers were Carol Foulkes, Presidentg Carol Metzger, Vice Presidentg Dorothy Micha, Secretaryg and Terry Brenneman, Treasurer. Carol Metzger and Dorothy Mlcha were elected Junior High Cheerleaders out of our class, Carol Metzger and Tom Frysinger were selected as Arch Bearers for the Halloween Carnival. Our Sophomore year started under the guidance of Mrs Bowers, We elected the following officers: Terry Brenneman, Presidentg John Metzger, Vice President, Dlane Roberts, Secretaryg and Sue Evans, Treasurer. We entertained the school with a one act play, nGett1ng Gracie Graduated.n Carol Sue and Dorothy Jane were elected cheerleaders from our class. Dorothy Jane and Dave Logan were selected as attendants for the Halloween Carnival.

We started our Junior year under the supervision of Mrs. Romaker. We elected the following officers: Tom Frysinger, President: Dave Sherrick, Vice Presidentg Sue Evans, Secretaryg and Diane Roberts, Treasurer. Carol Foulkes and Diane Roberts represented our class at the Ethan Allen Honor Society Banquet Garol Metzger and Dorothy Micha were elected cheerleaders, Terry Brenneman and Diane Roberts were chosen to reign as King and Queen of the Halloween Carnival: we presented our first profitable play, nBolts and Nuts,N directed by Mrs. Gladys Romaker. The last year of our school l1fe,and the most impor- tant, contained many activities. Our Senior Class Play, nOne Foot In Heaven,n was directed by Rev, Oliver Thomas. We elected the following class officers: Terry Brenneman, President: Tom Frysinger, Vice President? Diane Roberts, Secretary: and Carol Foulkes, Treasurer, Dorothy Micha and Carol Metzger led the cheering section again this year. Tom Frysinger, Terry Brenneman, Carol Foulkes, and Diane Roberts became life members of the Ethan Allen Honor Society. Terry, Tom, and Carol took the Senior Scholarship Test in Lima, We have some firsts added to our namesx We are the first Gomer Seniors to wear caps and gowns at graduation: we are the first Gomer Senior Class to edit a padded annual: and we are the first to stream-line the Commencement Exer- cises. We also promoted several new money making efforts during the year, a Pancake-Sausage Supper, a Rummage Sale, a Scrap Drive, a Bake Sale, and a Concession Stand at the baseball tournaments. The Juniors entertained us at the Junior-Senior Prom in the school cafeteria on May l6th. We enjoyed the gala affair very much, Juniors. The members of The '58' class who have been together for the twelve years are: Dave Sherrick, Diane Roberts, Tom Frysinger, Rhea Feaster, Leah Feaster, Carol Sue Netzger, Dorothy Micha, Sue Evans, and John Metzger. Now we are looking forward to Graduation and the Alumni. And last but not least, 'W A S H I N G T O N.'
