Goliad Breaks UIL Record Craig Dohmann ' s hard work in Number Sense won him first place in District competition. While competing against students from Yoakum, Kenedy, Karnes City, Floresville, and Hailetsville, the Goliad UIL team acquired 228 points to capture and break the 29- AA district literary title. Goliad sent eighteen students to Kingsville to participate in the Regional Meet. Goliad places first with Hailets- ville in the One Act Play competi- tion. Margaret Arredondo received the Best Actress Award while Mar- garet Carbajal and James Flores were named to the All-Star Cast. Tammy Preiss received an Honora- ble Mention Award. Margaret Carbajal, James Flores, MaCaret Arredonda, and Michael Scott poini out to Mr. Franklin Goliad ' s outstanding«Nteress in UIL events. Irs. Mueller congratulates Rusty Ryan for inning first place in Feature Writing.

Athletes Receive Honors Mitzi Ressmann, senior, receives the volleyball award from Athletic Director Doc Rowell. The Goliad Booster Club honored athletes with its annual sports ban- quet on May 17. The guest speaker was Mike Morrow, Executive Direc- tor of the Association of Texas Edu- cators. Awards were given to the out- standing girl and boy athletes. The recipients were selected on the basis of leadership, attitude, and depend- ability. The O. G. Copeland award was presented to the girl and boy athlete with the highest scholastic average.
