EAGLES ' BASKET BALL SEASON The Eagle's team played a total of Z5 games to complete a very suc- cessful basketball season. They won 15 of these games. During the District play the Eagles defeated eve ry team except Lam- pasas at least once and Fredericksburg and Mason twice. The Eagles were heavily handicapped without the services of R. H. Johnson and Red Miller during the time they were at the stock shows. The Eagles played in three tournaments, at Brownwood, Lampasas and Burnet. In the Brownwood tournament they played three games, losing two to Laredo and Big Springs, two very strong A teams but winning from the Gatesville five. Then in Lampasas tournament Goldthwaite crashed in for a third place trophy, and Carlin Wicker made All-tourna- ment Six. In the Burnet tournament three games were played with the team being defeated onlyby Prairie Lea, which won the tournament team there too. Robert H. Johnson and Carlin Wicker made the All-District team. The other two outstanding playe rs on the first line , not before mentioned were Billy Joe Heath, the fine ball handler and Walter Leonhard, a good ball player to have around any time.
