J ropJiecij The time is May 1968, ten years have elapsed since the 1958 class left the halls of knowl¬ edge at Goldston High School. From our Sputnik windows, let us peer on these 58 grads and see what great things they are doing. First we see Rebecca Cheek working as an X-Ray technician in a large New York Hospital... She especially enjoys X-Raying nice-looking men and she tries to grab them while they are help¬ less. After taking a two-year secretarial course in FOUR years, Janice Elkins finally graduated from Kings Business College and is a private secretary for a very handsome man, however, to no advantage, for she has to run home every evening to her husband and kids. Kay Elkins is fast becoming the best and most efficient F.B.I. woman in the world. Even the President is living straight, for fear Kay will pin something on him. Wayne Elkins is now head of a Construction Company in Africa. Johnny Hilliard is his assistant, but he sleeps most of the day. At night, these become Girl Scouts with the hopes of getting a wife before long. Patricia Gaines is continually getting mixed up on names of her many suitors, and can’t de¬ cide which one to marry. She, along with Ann, Jann, and Jay continue to have all-night par¬ ties - girls only! Pat really isn’t working too hard, but occasionally she teaches second grade in a New York Primary School. Poor students... don ' t they have it bad? In the meantime, we see that after singing at anytime and for anybody, Janice Graham has finally been accepted by Fred Waring as a member of his choral group. ..as an off-key soprano! She is also embarking on an acting career, but by the time her life is over, she will have done about any type of work you can imagine. Joyce Hancock now has a beauty shop of her own and is getting world recognition for her unusual hair-do’s. Her most frequent customers are the thirteen girls who graduated with her. Peggy Hart worked her way up for five years at the hosiery mill, which she now owns. She is desperately trying to invent a mill that will operate by itself, for she despises work! Barbara Jourdan is a very famous airline stewardess with her own school which includes a course, How to Get a Pilot for a Husband. ” She has had much experience at this, for she’s been divorced four times already. Emma Morrison is working at a telephone office and she accidentally on purpose hears conversations not meant for her ears! After having gone to medical school seven years and gaining a prominent position at Wesley Long Hospital, Anne C. Phillips suddenly decided during an operation, while the patient was cut open, that this was not the life for her. What happened to the patient? His wife draws his Social Security. Ann Phillips, Carolyn Rives and Sylvia Spivey are now joint owners of a large telephone company which has mechanical operators, which means the girls can leave work early to rush home to hubbys and boy friends. We see that after working ten years at the switchboard at Roberts Company, Faye Wright has finally been promoted.. .Congratulations! Well, well, there is Jimmy Williams running his Uncle’s Lumber Company. ..now in Jim ' s name. It ' s the type that runs while the boss sleeps and dreams of glamorous girls. Now we see Billy Watson down on the farm, raising pigs, chickens, cows, and other ani¬ mals. Incidentally, it ' s the largest farm in all of Chatham County. Gracious, that seems to be all, so we ' ll now take Sputnik into outer space for a while and say so long to the Goldston High School Seniors of 1958.
