School Quz U££H MARTHA ELOISE GAINES Eloise was elected by the football boys to be their Homecoming Queen. Further honor was accorded her when she was elected by popular vote from the high school students to represent Goldston High School in the queen contest sponsored by the Sanford Lion’s Club.

C (a Si - J hitor v Often history is considered rather dull, and it seems that each class has only a repetition of facts to offer; however, we seniors of 1952 feel that we have accomplished much. We entered Goldston High School in 1940. The following year Mr. G. P. Cullipher succeeded Mr. W. F. V easey as our principal. We should like to extend thanks to Mrs. Milton Garner, Miss Nina Ferguson, Mrs. Fave C. Moore, Miss Catherine Ward, Miss Louise Womble, Mrs. Mary A. Bar¬ ber, and Mrs. Helen Jeffrey for carefully and patiently guiding us into high school. Twenty-seven of us began high school as Freshmen. In this class we found Phillip Gaines, Ray Sam Garner, Hazel Hart and Bobby Welch to add to our group. Our homeroom teacher was Prin¬ cipal G. P. Cullipher. We elected for our officers: Donald Barber, President; Eloise Gaines, Vice- President; Doris Jean Myers, Secretary; Jearline Hancock, Treasurer; Katie Mae W. Oldha m, Room Representative. Members belonging to the Library Club were Victoria Moore, Ray Sam Gar¬ ner, and Doris Jean Myers. During our Sophomore year we lost J. C. Hillard, Berry Poe, Martha Garner, Ray Sam Gar¬ ner. Hazel Hart, Leonard Barber, Carroll Johnson, Raymond Wilkie, James Mashburn, Bobby Welch and Doris Jean Myers. We added to our roll Willie Stanly, Gordon Elkins, Richard Baker, and Laura Beal. We elected for our officers: President, Richard Baker; Vice-President, Phillip Gaines; Secretary, Isabelle Campbell; Treasurer, Lucy Fields; Room Representative, Donald Bar¬ ber. The waiters and waitresses selected to serve at the Junior-Senior Prom were Victoria Moore, Billy Cullipher, Eloise Gaines, Donald Barber, Isabelle Campbell, and Hal Oldham. Serving on the paper staff were Billy Cullipher and Hal Oldham. Our homeroom teacher was Mrs. Vann Oldham. For our Junior year we twenty-one were eager to take part in more activities. Those leaving us that year were Laura Beal and Willie Stanly. Billy Rives became a member of our class. Our officers were President, Phillip Gaines; Vice-President, Richard Baker; Secretary, Isabelle Camp¬ bell; Treasurer, Betty Ruth Campbell; Room Representative, Donald Barber; our homeroom teacher, M rs. Ralph Leonard. Phillip Gaines won first place in the Declamation Contest. Members who be¬ longed to the Beta Club were Lucy Fields, Victoria Moore, Isabelle Campbell, Donald Barber, Lvnn M oses, Hal Oldham and Billy Cullipher. On the paper staff were John Oldham, Donald Barber, Richard Baker, Phillip Gaines, Hal Oldham, and Billy Cullipher. Those driving buses from our class were John Oldham and Billy Rives. We gave the Seniors an “Old Fashioned Garden” style banquet. At the banquet Phillip Gaines gave the toasts to the Seniors; Victoria Moore, to the Guests; Isabelle Campbell, to the Faculty; and Billy Cullipher, to the Waitresses. Class marshals were Lynn Moses, Victoria Moore, Billy Cullipher, Lucy Fields, Isabelle Campbell, and Hal Oldham. Nineteen of us enrolled as Seniors, for we had lost Richard Baker and Lucy Fields. Donald Barber was President of our class; Billy Cullipher, Vice-President; Marie Powers, Secretary; Phil¬ lip Gaines, Treasurer; Gordon Elkins, Room Representative; and our homeroom teacher, Mrs. Vann Oldham. Members driving buses were Gordon Elkins, Billy Rives, John Oldham and Katie Mae W. Oldham. Those on the annual staff were Phillip Gaines, Billy Cullipher, Gordon Elkins, Donald Bar¬ ber, Victoria Moore, Eloise Gaines, Pearl Elkins, and Jearline Hancock. The paper staff accepted John Oldham, Isabelle Campbell, Victoria Moore, Hal Oldham, and Billy Rives. Serving on the Library staff were Jearline Hancock, Eloise Gaines, Pbillip Gaines, Gordon Elkins, and Billy Cxd- lipher. During the year we lost Billy Rives to the Air Force. The school representative to the Lee County Fair Beauty Contest was Eloise Gaines. Those belonging to the Student Council were Roger McMillan, Ruth Elkins, Betty Ruth Campbell and Marie Powers. Members of this class be¬ longing to the Beta Club were Victoria Moore, Isabelle Campbell, Lynn Moses, Donald Barber, Gor¬ don Elkins Hal Oldham, and Billy Cullipher. We selected for our mascots Anne Rives and Ronnie Gaines; our colors, red and white; our flower, red rose; and our motto, “Do more—wish less.” Our history has been twelve long years filled with many smiles and few tears. The recalling of these years will always bring us pleasant memories. To everyone who has helped us and who has patiently watched our progress—Thank You.
